Engaged? What’s next? Take engagement photos! Today we’re sharing seven of the best engagement photo tips to ensure your are picture perfect. Plus, we’re sharing engagement photo inspiration from past features AND an engagement prop giveaway by Ann-Kay Design! Read on to get started…
Engagement Photo Tips
1. Choose a fantastic photographer.
An engagement session is a great way to get to know a potential wedding photographer. You’ll get to see how he or she works, if your style meshes with theirs, and possibly hire them for your wedding. (Need a photographer? We know the best photographers in the biz!)
2. Bring outfit options.
Mix up your wardrobe for a more dynamic photo shoot.
3. Pre-plan the location(s).
Where do you and your fiance like to go? Is there a particular park, restaurant, or downtown spot? Pick the locations ahead of time and let your photographer know your thoughts. For instance, Jessica + Sam had a few photos taken at The Old Train Station in Downtown Detroit (below).
Daniel and Kristy took a few photos in Downtown D.C.
Take a dip! Nicole + Chris took a few photos in Lake George.
4. Be natural. Be you.
It may seem odd at first to be the center of attention, but don’t let it make you nervous. Just be yourself! Also, don’t use too much makeup or an overly-done hairstyle. Be yourself and dress comfortably.
5. Get those nails done.
If you want a close-up of that sparkling engagement ring, make sure your nails look their best. You’ll be glad you did!
6. Include your pup!
Who says your pal can’t get in on the fun?
7. Use a few props.
Chalkboards, banners, ampersands, bicycles, and blankets are just a few of our favorite engagement photo props. Props add a personal, unique touch.
Love Scrabble? Spell out a custom phrase.
Chilly? Snuggle up with a blanket.
Use the scenery around you! A sandy save the date, anyone? This brilliant idea was perfectly executed by Eric Boneske Photography.
And, most of all, have fun. This is a fleeting moment in your life, so enjoy every minute of it!
