Record Guest Book: Where To Get One Online + In-Store
Who is best suited for this style of guest book? Anyone!
Perhaps you…
• Love the sound of vinyl records [it’s amazing, isn’t it?]
• Your partner is a DJ!
• You both really love music of all kinds and styles ♫
• You’re having a retro themed wedding
… then a vinyl record will make the perfect guest book alternative!
► GO ALL OUT
We’re even seeing some couples going all out with a vinyl record themed wedding. It’s true!
You can even use one simply because you love the way it looks.
Many couples appreciate how this becomes a display item after the wedding. Instead of a book you place on a shelf, likely to collect dust, place yours in a record frame like this to display on a wall at home.
Here’s where to find yours.
Online Shopping
The most convenient place to find a record guest book is online from small businesses on Etsy. Independent sellers on Etsy have some of the most incredible record guest book alternatives I’ve ever seen, with customization that goes even further. Here are some of our favorite finds to help you get the perfect record guest book for your wedding.
1. Love By Laser
For instance, this wedding record sign by LoveByLaser is a large display item that stands up nicely on a table at your reception. It is made with a variety of materials including wood (oak and walnut) plus acrylic. The gold and silver added really makes it sparkle and shine!
This record alternative guestbook is designed for guests to leave a message on the record with a special pen (included). You can even include a sign that instructs guests: “For the record, please sign our guest book”. It’s the perfect addition to your guest book table.
2. Phonoboy
If you’d like to get a real vinyl record for signing and a frame to display it later, you can order yours from Phonoboy. Personalize the text of the label and get a pack of these markers for guests to sign onto the record. It’s easy!
3. Whimsical White Fox
You can purchase a custom record from WhimsicalWhiteFox that looks this beautiful!
DIY / Craft Stores
If you’re feeling crafty, you can add a personal touch to yours by making a guest book yourself. Here’s how I made one for our wedding client.
If you want to go the DIY route, you’ll want to order a custom record label from WeddingShoppeCo. Then, you’ll need just a few simple supplies: first, an old vinyl record.
I bought a used vinyl record for cheap at 2nd & Charles locally; you can often find clearance records of old records that may have scratches or are out of circulation. If you prefer an online option, try EBay or Amazon. You can likely get one for $5 to $10 maximum. Locally, I searched for — and was able to find — a vintage Whitney Houston vinyl record for one of our wedding clients (Whitney is one of her faves) and she loved it. It was about $2! Score.
Then, I coated the record with black spray paint (matte) to create a layer for signatures to be captured easily.
Add a Custom Wedding Record Label
Once dry, I added the label from WeddingShoppeCo. and guests signed directly onto the record using these markers. It turned out beautifully!
Here’s what the label looks like:
How to Display Your Record Guest Book
When you’re ready to display the record at your wedding, it’s best to have a nice wide table to place it. Put the record flat onto the table so it’s easy for guests to sign; resist the temptation to have the record on display with a holder, as it often gets knocked over as soon as a guest tries to sign on the vinyl. ;)
By the time most guests add a signature, though, feel free to prop it up into a holder so it is beautifully on display. You can also use a record player to put it on display!
And stock the table with plenty of these markers, which will work like a marker but dry like paint. It’s perfect!
