Before you shell out one hundred or more dollars on a dress you might wear just once… wouldn’t it be nice to try on bridesmaid dresses at home? Yes, I think so, too! Read on for this recent Ask Emmaline question where we tackle this topic. Be sure to subscribe for the latest to your inbox!
Bridesmaid dresses can be expensive, especially when most people are buying them online sight unseen. What if it doesn’t fit? What if the color is way off? You don’t want to be out $150 and then still need to find a dress that fits!
It can be frustrating!
We get it! So, when bride-to-be, Alex, wrote us on this topic, we swooped in to answer it for her. She writes,
“Hi Emmaline, I’m getting married in September and I’m looking for bridesmaid dresses. I want to go in person to shop but many of my bridesmaids live all over the country and it’s not fair to only bring one along. Do you know of any bridal shops that let you try on bridesmaid dresses at home? I’m not even sure that exists but it would be fun for them to see how they fit before they commit to ordering them. Thanks for the suggestions!”
Hi Alex! Great question.
A few years ago, I would have had no idea what that kind of service would even look like. For years, going in-store to try on dresses was a popular thing to do, but like you mentioned, it’s not convenient for everyone to do so.
Now there is a solution that is wildly popular among brides for convenience alone: trying on bridal party dresses at home!
After digging around, I discovered the dress designer Azazie, popular for its bridesmaid dresses, offers sample dresses you can try on at home. Yep, it finally happened! And you don’t have to worry about making a huge costly mistake on a bridesmaid dress that simply doesn’t fit.
How To Try On Bridesmaid Dresses at Your Home
I know what you’re thinking… how does this even work? Don’t worry, they ironed out all the details after working with many couples and they have a straightforward guide here.
Here are the helpful takeaways I learned after reading about it on their website:
• You pay $20 to try on 1 to 3 bridesmaid or Mother of the Bride dresses (here are some samples)
• You get to keep the dresses for 1 week from delivery to try them on, throw a bridal party try-on party with local attendees, and then decide if you’re going to purchase it or it’s not a good fit
• If you need more time, they allow you to request an extension
And if you like the sample dress and just want to keep it, you get 10% off the purchase price. Pretty cool!
Here are just a few examples of the try on at home styles you can pick from:
There’s more to it (including a super-fun Spotify dress try on playlist, heck yes) on their ‘How It Works‘ page.
If you’re like Alex and your bridesmaids live afar, they can try on their dresses at home and report back, maybe send some photos of their fave styles. If your bridesmaids live close, you can throw a bridesmaid dress try-on party at home! Invite everyone over, play some music, and envision what your bridal party will look like on the day of in your suggested styles.
Fun idea!
Note: These prices, policies, procedures, etc. can change, so be sure to check in with them before you try ’em just to make sure.

So, you really can try on bridesmaid dresses in the comfort of your own home! How convenient is that? What I love most is the ability for your bridesmaids – no matter where they live! – to enjoy the try-on process, too, and make sure the fit, size, style, and color are a perfect match before they buy.
It’s convenient and we love how the bridesmaid shopping process has changed!
