Hi, lovelies! Emma here and it’s time for our latest Ask Emmaline questions: where to buy a birdcage wedding card holder. Bride-to-be Bethany wrote us recently with the following, and we were pretty eager to answer it as I just attended (the cutest, btw) bridal shower this past weekend that also had a birdcage card holder. I’ve been thinking of this very question myself, so it couldn’t have come at a better time. She writes,
“Hi Emmaline! I want to find a birdcage wedding card holder for my reception so guests can put their cards inside. Do you know where to buy one or any tips for wedding birdcages before I shop? Thanks!”
Great question, Bethany! I love the birdcage wedding card holder: the look is beautiful and it’s a functional piece that adds to your decor. These birdcages have been used for weddings in the last few years and continue to grow as a steady trend, both for receptions and wedding showers (I’ve seen them at baby showers, too!) In today’s post, we’ll tell you what to look for in a wedding birdcage card holder, what size you’ll need, and where to buy one. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorites to inspire you, too. We even found signage you’ll definitely want to include with your card holder, just in case. Enjoy!
Birdcage Card Holder
First things first: let’s talk about what kind of wedding birdcage card holder to look for. Popular because of their whimsy and style, a bird cage is the perfect receptacle for accepting wedding cards. The important thing to note before you buy a wedding bird cage: make sure it’s big enough! Some couples make the mistake of going too small and, well, that just defeats the purpose. Here are a few tips before you buy one.
Your wedding birdcage should have the following:
o Large enough size
Make sure your wedding bird cage card holder serves its purpose and can hold a lot of cards — at least 75% of guests bring a card, so size is a big deal to consider before buying one.
For example, this wedding bird cage card holder is XL in size and can hold about 200 cards. By Those Days. You can decorate it yourself!
o Spaces on bird cage not too large
Make sure it’s made to hold cards and isn’t too easy to grab cards that are inside.
o Lockability is a plus
Hate to be negative here, but a small (very inconspicuous) lock on the top of the bird cage is a real benefit. (Read more about why you need a card box with lock here.) Most wedding bird cage card holders have a swing top as the lid, so it’s easy to put a small lock on the back where it’s not visible, yet secure.
Here’s an example of a wedding bird cage card holder that locks! From here.
