This question comes to us from bride-to-be, Sarah, who writes, “Hi Emmaline! I’m planning my wedding and I want a handmade bouquet. My friend suggested a sola bouquet, but I’ve never heard of one. What is it? Where can I find one? Thanks in advance!”

Excellent question, Sarah! A sola bouquet is a bouquet made from balsa wood. (Balsa wood is also known as ochroma pyramidale – try saying that three times fast.) Sola flowers are formed by the wood and are typically cream in color and have a unique soft texture. And, since these are made of wood with natural variations, no two flowers are exactly the same!
