What is the name of your business and when did you launch?

“lucy’s toppers began in September 2016.”

Where are you based?

“Sydney, Australia.” (P.S. But she sends clay figurine wedding cake toppers around the world!)

How did you begin your business?

“I first started making novelty cupcakes and birthday cakes for school fairs and birthdays. I then realised that I enjoyed the creative process the most and wanted to create figurines that were not made out of sugar and that could be posted anywhere in the world.”

Tell us more about your products.

“It took me more or less a year of experimenting with different kinds of clays and cold porcelain to finalise the product. The framework was also a huge challenge, but I finally found something that worked. I wanted it to be lightweight and very strong, so that it could last a keepsake. Deciding on a specific style for the faces was also not always easy and is still evolving. Adding animals, cars and motorbikes will be a new challenge, but I’m looking forward to it and hope that I will rise to the occasion.”

When is your favorite time to design: early morning, afternoon, or night?

“Early morning!

What inspires you most?

“Artists all over the internet.”

What materials do you work with?

“My clay figurine wedding cake toppers are made of cold porcelain, wood, and styrofoam.”

What do you like best about working with couples?

“I love doing weddding expos. The couples that come to my table have smiles on their faces when they see the figurines. They are very enthusiastic and also have lots of ideas of what they want exactly. Each couple is completely unique.”

What is your favorite social network?

What new products do you have coming out soon?

“I try to create a new wedding couple every week or so. It all depends on my schedule. I have recently added some dogs and cats. I will soon be adding an antique French car and an Italian Vespa to the mix.”

What is your best wedding advice — in 10 words or less?

“Breathe and enjoy every second, it’s over too soon.”
