Today we’re talking knee length bridesmaid robes! But first, whenever one Ask Emmaline question gets published (like this one) it takes literally minutes for another one to come through the inbox. :) Thanks for writing, keep ’em coming!
As I mentioned, today we’re talking about the knee length bridesmaid robe. Melissa, a bride getting married in June, wants bridesmaid robes for her girls to wear while getting ready for the wedding.
In case you’re new to the trend, allow me to explain. Bridesmaid robes are fun to wear while getting hair and makeup done because you can lounge in pretty, relaxed clothing while everyone gets their makeup and hair styled, thousands of rounds of hairspray, sip on mimosas, give the bride her letters, etc.
After everyone is all dolled up, robes are easy to remove and get dressed in your bridal gown or bridesmaid dress, flower girl dress, or mother-of-the-bride dress without messing up hair and makeup. Unlike t-shirts or tank tops which get pulled up over your face and hair, robes easily remove with a simple tie around the waist making it a cinch to get dressed. No fly-aways and smudges here!
Melissa doesn’t just want any bridesmaid robe; she wants a knee length bridesmaid robe. She writes,
Hi Emmaline! I’m looking for knee length bridesmaid robes. I want my bridesmaids to wear them the morning of the wedding but I don’t want the robes to be too short. I want everyone to feel comfortable wearing them and many bridal party robes I’ve found are hip length. I feel it’s too short to wear for everyone in my party to be comfortable. Do you have a suggestion for a set of bridesmaid robes that hit at the knee or longer? Thanks for your help.
Ah, great question and I understand your point. I know what you mean about those super-short robes. You’re asking cousins, best friends, moms, aunts, sisters, sisters-in-law etc. to all sit + get ready comfortably in a robe that is wayyyy too short, which can make anyone feel self-conscious.
Who can sit and relax while worrying about a wardrobe malfunction, all while being heavily documented on camera with the wedding photographer?! I totally get it!
To help, we’ve done a little digging to find knee length bridesmaid robes and I think you’re going to really like these. They’re pretty, high-quality, made of really gorgeous fabrics and floral designs, they’re priced to be bought in bulk for bridesmaids / bridal parties, and they’re — yay! — knee length! We’ve also gone a bit longer to show you what ankle length bridesmaid robes and midi robes (which hit around mid-calf), just in case you want an even longer style. Any length looks really cute.
To top it off, your bridesmaids can be given these as gifts: where them at the wedding, but for years afterward. Lounge around the house, get ready for a night out, or even as a beach cover-up! I want one ALL the robes!
PRO TIP: If giving these as bridesmaid gifts with a beach-y theme, consider these floppy hats to go with them!
The robes in our round-up today are by Plum Pretty Sugar (see the shop here) and they have many styles available. To top it off, you’ll easily find all sizes (including plus size and maternity), flower girl sizes, and other styles such as solid color robes. We’re highlighting floral bridesmaid robes in this feature, simply because they’re the most popular and we adore the styles, but feel free to explore their shop for even more options.
Anyways, on with it already! Let’s take a look.
