Wedding Balloon Ideas
Decorating with balloons at wedding is easy; you just need to know a few tips to make them look their best. For wedding-appropriate balloon placement, follow these simple steps.
- Use fun decorative balloons intended for weddings
Any of the balloons shown here are perfect! These big round balloons or giant confetti balloons are a huge hit right now; they look way more elegant than traditional balloons. Skip bold one-color balloons or too-large bunches and opt instead for clear or lightly colored balloons. Bold colors tend to overwhelm your space and look more like a birthday celebration. Great for bachelorette parties, but not in place at a wedding or bridal shower. Giant round balloons in muted colors and tied to white tulle ribbon, as shown below, looks elegant as wedding ceremony decor. Make sure you tie them down to chairs securely, or use these so they don’t float away. :)
- Use wedding balloons in moderation: balloons at weddings should not overwhelm your space
Everything in moderation, am I right? The same applies to wedding balloons. If you’re using balloons as side accents, just a few will do! Tie a small bunch of three or five balloons — uneven numbers of things look better in decor — in one small area, like your cake table or dessert table. If tying three on one side of a table, do the same on the opposite for a cohesive look.
If you’re using balloons for wedding centerpieces, make sure they fly tall so guests can still mingle with guests across the table without having to look around the balloons (it can get annoying). As a visual, check out this wedding reception with giant round pink balloons:
- Fill your wedding balloons with helium + hi-float
Here’s a little-known balloon secret: balloons filled with Hi-Float they are inflated with helium will last for days upon days, flying high in the air without any kind of deflation. This means you can set up a few days ahead of time, or even the night before, and your balloons will look as great at your reception, bridal shower, or bachelorette party as they did on day one.
It’s a serious time-saver (and stress-reliever). You can get hi-float here. Fill up your balloons yourself immediately after using the hi-float with your own helium tank (you can get one like this).
- Include balloons as photo props with your bridesmaids / entire bridal party and couple portraits
Don’t forget to capture a few snaps with your bridesmaids! Giant round balloons work well — these have tassels, which adds texture and visual interest.
- Decorate with mini balloons over a cake table or dessert bar
These mini balloons (intermixed with standard size latex balloons) make for an elegant garland. Add a little greenery (like this) to complete the look. You can get mini balloons here.
