Hi, Cassandra, and thanks so much for writing! Marquee lights for weddings is a trend that came in full-force and then sort of tapered off just slightly… and then came roaring back again. It only tapered off because, honestly, I think brides were all left wondering the same thing: where do I buy lighted letters? How many should I buy? And something no one really asks but certainly is thinking: won’t they cost way too much?

So, let’s break this down in a few easy sections. First, let’s talk about where to buy lighted letters.

Where to Put Wedding Marquee Lights

You had a great idea with the marquee lights being placed at the head table or as a decoration in front of it. I think that would look beautiful. In addition, I have seen marquee lights at weddings placed on the entry way (the escort card / entrance table is the most popular space) and at the bar. Anywhere you decide to place them, I am positive guests will be commenting on how lovely they look!

And talk about reusable decor… you can have these lighted letters on display in your home as decor, whether in your home office, bedroom, or home bar.

The cost of marquee lights will vary from couple to couple, depending on what you choose as your lighted letters. You can go with Mr and Mrs with your name, but keep in mind that each letter adds money to your total cost. Some couples go all-out and include their entire last name, complete with “Mr & Mrs” in front.

If that is the look you’re after and it fits your budget, go for it.

If you want to cut costs a bit, consider your initials only, separated by an ampersand sign. That seems to be the most popular choice among couples who love marquee lights but don’t have the budget or desire to spell out their entire last name.

Need to trim the budget even more? Sometimes, a simple monogram lighted letter is the way to go. Just choose the initial of your new last name and place it alongside other decorations to make it stand out. :)
