Ah, a DIY dahlia flower brooch: the perfect accessory for the crafty, not-so-crafty, or last-minute holiday gift wrapper (like me!) who wants to use something other than throw-away bows. We spotted this darling DIY dahlia flower brooch tutorial over at Not Martha and we love how easy it is to do. I can think of so many ways to use this brooch: as a gift topper, as an alternative to a corsage (place a pin on the back for wearing), or as a cute brooch for your tote bag or purse. And… there’s even a little surprise on the back to make this a truly personalized handmade gift. Take a peek…
DIY Dahlia Flower Brooch
The red flowers above seemed appropriate for the holiday season, but you can use any colors you’d like for this tutorial. For winter weddings (or holiday gifts), opt for red and green or white and ice blue. Spring or summer soiree? Yellow and green, blue, orange, light green, and pink all fit the bill. These would also be cute in autumn with gold, orange, crimson, and brown. Oh, the possibilities of these sweet little flowers.
My favorite part of these flowers, though, isn’t just how cute they look or how versatile they can be… it’s the secret personalized message that can go on the back. Love, love, love.
OK, if you’re like me you’re ready to get crafting: head over to the full tutorial! If you make one (or a dozen) of these, please do send them in for us. We’d love to add our readers’ DIY dahlia flower brooch creations to this post. We always love to see what you create.
