Hi, lovelies! I love testing out new beauty tips, tricks, and secrets. I’ve been known to concoct my own at-home beauty experiments trying out home remedies like honey, brown sugar, and coconut oil to get shiny hair and glowing skin. Or egg yolks for an at-home face masque.
And I’m always looking to try the best new shampoo (especially in this terribly dry winter weather), the hottest new mascara (this one is considered the best one with over 300k reviews, amazing!), eye palette, or makeup tutorial to try.
And lately, I’ve been on the hunt for the best hair products to make my itchy, dry winter scalp feel better. More on that in a minute.
In this blog post, I’m rounding up ten of my favorite DIY beauty tips for the bride 3 months to 6 months before the wedding. It’s the dead of winter at the moment, so this gives you plenty of time to try out the ones you like ahead of the big day (and all those pre-wedding parties!) this summer.
Read on to find out the best bride beauty tips. Enjoy!
Beauty Tips for Brides 3 Months Before the Wedding
3 to 6 months before your wedding, do these things to get that shimmery bridal glow!
1. Treat Your Hair
OK, first up: let’s go back to that hair problem I was talking about. It is the dead of winter and I tried a few products here and there to make my itchy dry scalp feel nice and refreshed. But each product keeps adding build up, or one find in particular made my skin really itchy.
A friend told me a major problem is all the added junk most drugstore shampoos add to theirs.
Therefore, I discovered Organic Ceutical – an organic formula, which is thankfully free of most irritants I keep finding in my regular shampoos and conditioners. Organic Ceutical has NO phosphates. It is also phthalates free, paraben free, and silicon free. It’s also cruelty-free and vegan.
I took their online quiz which shows I need their cream conditioner – rich in nourishing oils – and also recommended for its content of Vitamin A. I’m excited to try the detox active shampoo: my hair gets very sweaty when I work out and I could use a formula to rebalance my pH. Take the quiz here for recommendations suited to your unique needs. Will report back after I try it for a long period of time.
If you tackle any hair issues now, you’ll be on a great regimen for the months to come ahead of the big day.
Next, here’s something I really need this winter: exfoliation. Hello, dry lips and skin!
2. Exfoliate your lips and skin.
Exfoliating your lips and your face may not be high on your list of to-dos, but it should be. Your wedding makeup will glide on better, last longer, and look its best if you have a good foundation of exfoliated lips and skin. You can use this multi-pack of lip exfoliators and face brushes that work great.
Try it with a lip exfoliator like this lip scrub which is quite popular! By HandmadeHeroes.
For your face, use a silicone brush or this skin exfoliator from Era Organics. It has Manuka honey in it and I LOVE it. It always makes my skin feel super soft.
3. Start a new skincare habit.
Two of the easiest things you can do for your skin 3 months before the wedding that will make a BIG difference costs next to nothing and is so easy: drink LOTS of water and ALWAYS remove makeup and wash your face before bed. I always recommend these remover wipes because they’re gentle on my own skin and they always take off even the most stubborn mascara.
One of the habits I adopted in 2024 is adding Vitamin C into my skincare regimen. I read somewhere that Vitamin C boosts collagen and strengthens skin, and I feel like it does wonders for making me look less tired. ;) A serum like Orange You Bright from Winky Lux is my go-to.
Speaking of looking less tired, another thing I started using is these under-eye collage eye pads from Maree. They’re a popular thing on Tiktok, so call me influenced, but whatever. ;) They make me look so much more alert, especially early-AM. You don’t even have to leave them on that long.
4. Whiten your teeth.
Whiter teeth are a must for your wedding! I’ve tried at-home whitening strips before but I always have super-sensitive teeth. People are talking about this the blue light whitening kits that has a booster light and is backed by dentists. I use this one myself and love it. No sensitivity here, and I usually have issues with any other kind of whitening treatment. It’s by Auraglow.
5. Treat your feet.
Raise your hand if you need a good, deep-exfoliating treatment on your feet! I know I could use one. You can concoct your own sandal foot mask with easy-to-find ingredients in your kitchen. If you prefer, you can do this foot peel mask which is always relaxing to me.
I also swear by getting rid of calluses on the bottoms of my feet with this rechargeable foot file. It’s awesome and I use it once a month at a minimum.
After any kind of exfoliating — lips, face, skin, feet — you need a solid moisturizer. I like this one by Gold Bond.
6. Plan ahead for your manicure and pedicure.
One of the best beauty tips for brides 3 months before the wedding? Take great care of your nails before your manicure and pedicure. You’ll likely be taking care of your nail polish and primping a week before the wedding (and these are the best nail tips for weddings).
But before that, avoid acrylic nails, overdoing it on the polish, or stripping your natural oils from your nails until you’re ready for a nourishing manicure. Your nails will look better and be healthier if you’re giving them time to “breathe” in-between nail salon visits.
I know I keep talking about moisturizing here, but your hands are another place to not avoid — your hands will look smoother and glowing in photos! You probably already have a favorite hand cream; “>I use this one, which is also good for your cuticles.
7. Nail down an easy makeup tutorial.
3 months before the wedding, you’ll be gearing up for many bridal festivities: the shower, bachelorette party, dress fittings, etc. It would be a dream to be camera-ready for them all, but who has a pro makeup artist at the ready? For your wedding day, a professional makeup artist is a must, but for other parties, you can learn how to do it yourself and feel your best. Check out this helpful “no makeup” makeup look to help.
When you finally achieve a look you love, set it with this setting spray. I finally bought some and I’ll never go back!
8. Remove Blackheads
Pesky blackheads – who needs ’em? Get rid of them quickly with this natural tutorial.
I also swear by these pore strips and this extractor vacuum tool is an amazing invention.
9. Get rid of pesky hairs.
Hey, now, we all get ’em! If you don’t think YOU get one, you might need to look very close in the mirror. That’s what one reviewer talked about in her hilarious and true review of these dermaplaner mini face razors. You can use them all over your face and remove peach fuzz and mustache hair quickly and painlessly. These are amazing… and cheap! I use it once a week (and it also helps remove dry skin).
10. Try this DIY Bridal Makeup Tutorial.
You can get Youtube tutorials or Tiktok videos of Bridal Makeup so you can nail the best look for you. The best tip? Use a set of quality makeup brushes to achieve the perfect look.
BONUS: Get plenty of sleep.
Last but not least, the easy thing you can do immediately is get more sleep! Bonus points if you choose a really comfy pillow or a nice mattress that helps you sleep well through the night. Add some hydration and exercise and you’ll be glowing in no time!
