We love when a couple uses handmade details to tell their unique love story. We also love to see a happy, always-smiling bride. Today’s real Peninsula Lakes wedding contains both! Jenna and Aaron’s wedding was held at the Pen Lakes Golf Course which provided an inviting, picturesque backdrop for their reception. The photographer, Kendel of KO Two Photography, provided us with memorable wedding day details and insight about Jenna and Aaron’s wedding theme. Take it away, Kendel!
“Jenna and Aaron’s wedding was a gorgeous spring wedding full of handmade items that made the day so inviting, memorable and so THEM! The overall theme of their wedding day was ‘Trees’ as Aaron, the groom, works at a family owned tree nursery. Each table was named after a different type of tree, the seating arrangement was hung between two beautiful blossoming trees, and their guest favours were beautiful saplings wrapped up in burlap with a personalized tag signed by the bride and groom. The bride and her bridesmaids created beautiful DIY wedding programs with a gorgeous tree stamp on the cover that also matched the stamp used to create the table signs. So many details for the wedding were handmade and the bride admits that she was “a little tired of crafts” for sometime after the wedding. But all of her hard work, along with the work of her friends and family, truly paid off as the wedding was so lovely and the personal handmade details made the event feel intimate and homey.”
“Jenna and Aaron’s wedding included so many neat ‘out of the box’ ideas as well. Jenna chose to add green crinoline underneath her dress to tie in with the colour of her bridesmaid dresses. The groom and groomsmen’s boutonnières were also very unique in that their orchids were held in gun shells, as hunting is one of their hobbies. Another awesome part of the day was dessert! They had a Marble Slab ice cream bar and all of their guests got choose their favourite toppings to create delicious treats.
“As their photographer my favourite part of the wedding day was when we took the ‘couple photos’ in an orchard that was near their reception venue. Choosing a unique location for your photos that is meaningful to you as a couple is so important, and Jenna and Aaron did just that. Aaron had proposed to Jenna the year before in a blooming orchard near by, making this the perfect location for their wedding photos. It was such a beautiful orchard with the trees all in bloom, and they were such a beautiful couple to work with and their love for each other really shows through their images.
Thanks for having me as part of your big day Jenna and Aaron and thanks for letting me share your wedding photos and ideas with other DIY brides! I hope you enjoy your photos for years to come.”
