I love the concept of permanent jewelry. I have a few minimalist bracelets I wear daily and taking them off and putting them back on daily is a chore. But I don’t want to wear them in the shower or when swimming, and they aren’t comfortable enough to wear to bed. So, what’s a girl gonna do? Hop on the permanent jewelry bandwagon and figure out how to get the chains that never have to come off!
Unfortunately for me, I do not live in the area where the lovely Made By Mary has made a name for themselves (shout-out to Bluffdale, Utah!) in the world of minimalist and memorable jewelry, including their collection of “make it permanent” jewelry. Their pieces are so beautifully-made that you never want to take them off, and now they have a service that makes it actually permanent to wear.
What is Permanent Jewelry?
Live-in jewelry: that’s pretty permanent, don’t you think? The latest craze in accessorizing is permanent jewelry, the type you never have to take off. Wear it in the shower, swim in the pool, and sleep in it. Never take it off.
I like this concept of permanency: for meaningful jewelry you never have to remove, it makes sense if it fits perfectly, is just the right style, and you like to wear daily. Why bother with the clasp each morning and night? Besides, jewelry is much easier than perhaps a tattoo you may change your mind about later. :)
Technically, permanent jewelry can come off if needed, although you probably won’t want to ever remove it.
Permanent Jewelry Chains
So, where can you get permanent jewelry? As mentioned a minute ago, one of the best places to shop this unique style is Made By Mary. They offer a permanent bracelet service: you can come into their studio here with an appointment with one of their jewelers.
The process is easy: you can customize the chain you’d like, add a charm — make it personal! — and have it fitted to your wrist perfectly. Then, a jeweler welds together the ends instead of a clasp. This way, your permanent jewelry is tough and durable to wear daily, yet fitted to you perfectly so you forget you’re even wearing it.
Live-In Jewelry: Earrings
If you don’t live in the area (I don’t and wish I did!) you can shop their live-in jewelry options instead. These are earrings that can be removed, but are technically designed to live-in: they have a comfortable earring backing that won’t disrupt your slumber. Here are some of their live-in earrings options you can wear all day (and night!)
And here are the details about how to get permanent jewelry in their local store.
