Hi, lovelies! Emma here with some helpful ideas for casual save the date examples, thanks to a recent Ask Emmaline question from Becca. She is newly engaged (congrats!) and has set the date for the fall. She wants to send save the dates to her extended family, friends, and guests; however, she isn’t sure exactly how to word it. She writes,
“I’m getting married in October and need to buy save the dates, but I’m not sure what they should say. Our wedding will be laid back and informal with an outdoor ceremony and barn reception. Should the style be the same as my wedding, and do you have any casual save the date wording examples or ideas? Thank you so much.”
Hi Becca! Great questions — let’s tackle them one at a time.
For starters, your wedding sounds awesome: I’d stick with the rustic outdoorsy theme, simply because you already know exactly what you’re planning. The cards don’t necessarily need to exemplify everything about your wedding just yet, i.e. colors or motifs, but an outdoor barn theme or laid-back feel is precisely what you should be going for when picking out your save the dates — both in design AND wording.
(Note for other couples: If you’re not sure about your theme yet, go ahead with any design you like! But if you DO know, it is best to be as cohesive as possible)
Casual Save the Date
Since the wedding is less formal, the wording should be, too. Here are some casual save the date wording examples to help you as you pick out your exciting announcements for family and friends with a laid-back, informal (and fun!) feel.
