Photo Sharing with QR Code for an Event: How to Set It Up Easily
Many people don’t realize how easy it is to set up photo sharing for guests to upload their pictures using a QR code, so I’m here to help. If you make it difficult to get photos from guests, those snapshots will be stuck on a digital device, buried on social media under hashtags, or never seen at all.
I don’t want that to happen to you!
Here’s the top way to get photos from guests with a QR code in 3 easy steps. You won’t believe how simple this is to use for all ages, all phone types, and even the most basic computer knowledge. Your guests don’t need to be tech-savvy at all to enjoy the benefits of photo sharing and you’ll gain priceless memories that would have otherwise been missed.
You don’t need to download any apps. There’s no special software to subscribe to and it works on any Smartphone device (iPhone or Android). And it’s extremely affordable to do so!
Here’s exactly how to do it in three simple steps.
Step 1: Get a free gallery.
You can sign up for a free event at LiveshareNow and create your gallery. It’s free to “Create an Event” which will set up your account and your gallery. For most features, this is all you need; however, you can upgrade for additional extras at a low cost. You can decide later: right now, you simply need to set up the gallery here.
Step 2: Create a QR code to your gallery from QR Code Generator.
Once you have the URL of your gallery created in step 1, copy the link and use it to generate a QR code here. There are free options as well as upgrades. For now, you just need to get the code generated; I HIGHLY recommend upgrading, as you cannot do anything with the code later if they change it, limit use, or you need to edit the link. This is very important.
Now your QR code will link directly to your gallery. Yay! This will make it incredibly easy for guests to access and share photos from the event. Be sure to download the QR code you just created. You’re going to use the code in Step 3.
Now you are ready for your guests to share photos from the event with a QR code. But wait, there’s one thing missing: you need to make the QR code visible for your guests to use.
To do that, let’s put the code onto a sign.
Step 3: Display the QR code on a sign.
The best way to get photos from guests is with a QR code, printed onto some sort of signage at your event. To do it, you’ll simply create a basic sign like this one, which you can print at Zazzle.
To make yours, use the QR code you downloaded to your computer or device and upload it to your sign template.
Here’s an example by MintyPaperie:
This is a great example for a wedding, where you’ll get guests to share photos with a QR code to your private wedding gallery. Smart idea!
This “Capture the Love” is another great signage example: it provides instructions to guests for sharing photos by scanning the QR code with a Smartphone.
► You can easily edit the template with the design of your choosing and select wording that coordinates with your event.
PRO TIP: Before you have it printed, make sure you upload your QR code so it works with YOUR gallery! This is important to ensure the link works properly.
If you’re tech-savvy and don’t want to spend any money, you can make a sign for free. Just use your favorite document software and upload your QR code and add your own text, then print at home.
How to Encourage Guests to Share Photos and Use the QR Code
You want to make the sign visible, so make sure you place it at a popular spot at the celebration.
This signage is best placed on a table at the entryway of your event or at a heavily-trafficked area of the party. For instance, at a wedding, you may put a sign on the bar or near the guest book table. At a birthday party, you may place it by the gifts table or near the cake.
