You’ve set the date… now it’s time to save the date! Emma here and today I’m talking about Shutterfly – specifically their collection of save the date cards. Since the day you got engaged, you may have seen special offers for Shutterfly, advertisements, flyers, or perhaps you were referred to Shutterfly from a friend. But are Shutterfly save the date cards any good? Are they easy to customize? Do they look as great in person as they do online? I’ll cover all of that today in this special Shutterfly save the date review. Enjoy!
Shutterfly Save the Date Cards
I have used Shutterfly in the past for gifts and a few personal products and have always had great success with the quality of the items; I was excited to dive into the Shutterfly save the date cards collection and get a first-hand view of them myself. In order to provide you this review, I ordered ten save the dates from their collection, designed them with custom wording, colors, and photos, and went through the entire ordering process to see how it really is for couples. My first impression: whoa, there are lots of designs — and they’re so modern and on-trend! Right off the bat I found a few designs and eagerly began the process.
Before I share my review, check out the awesome save the date cards I created at Shutterfly! Andrew and I have been married for a few years now, but I picked a faux wedding date and had so much fun pretending we were celebrating all over again! We’re planning a beautiful wintry December wedding in 2017 in the beautiful historic small town of Romeo, Michigan (such a sweet place, I swear it is a Stars Hollow duplicate).
Shutterfly Save the Date Cards Review
Overall, the process with Shutterfly was easy, affordable, and the results were beautiful. I’ve outlined a few most notable pros and cons.
Pros
Customizing Made Easy
Shutterfly save the dates are very easy to customize. Each design offers an opportunity to put your personal stamp on it, whether with colors, font choices, by adding photos, or changing a background.
Liners!
I only tried an envelope liner on one or two of my cards, but whoa — the envelope liners are a cool unexpected addition that will really make your save the date cards pop!
Excellent Price Points
Shutterfly save the date cards are a beautiful find for every budget! You can sort by price, which makes it easy to stay on budget; or sort by best seller to see which ones are most popular among other couples. Moreover, you can sort by number of photos, colors, styles, foil or no foil, and more.
Trim Options
One of my favorite things about Shutterfly’s save the date cards are the custom trim options. For most cards, you can choose the trim to suit your style. Choose traditional square or mix things up with rounded corners, a scalloped edge, bracket, or ticket style to name a few.
Instant Personalization
I loved how much time I saved on my project by inputting my wedding details one time, right from the beginning. Upon selecting your first save the date style, you enter your first names, wedding date, city, and state.
Room for Photos
These save the dates offer spaces for 1 photo to 4 photos on one card, with the ability to preview your photos and mix and match different photos to see your finished product before you order. This is great for showing off your favorite engagement photos from an engagement session or sharing a favorite snapshot of you two as a couple. Alternatively, if you don’t plan on taking engagement photos, or you prefer a card without a photo, there are a few beautiful designs without any photos — I like how they give you the option.
And if you want to add even more photos, the back of each card allows for multiple photos, text, and your choice of layout, along with background patterns and textures.
Image Gallery
I loved the Shutterfly image gallery, known as their Art Library, which has some fun backgrounds and patterns to input into your design. For one of my cards, I chose a mason jar lantern photo in their gallery and it looked beautiful on the entire save the date spread. Check out the Art Library — there are many options!
Easy Photo Uploading
Uploading photos is easy from your favorite sources like Facebook, Instagram, and Flickr; you can also upload photos from your computer. I loved how quickly they uploaded and were saved into my account.
Save and Come Back
Saving your work as a project is a brilliant move by Shutterfly. Time is valuable when you’re planning your wedding, and projects like these can take some time (as you want to make sure it’s perfect). I was able to work on my project and save it for later on one computer; log in on another and continue where I left off. This is a major time saver, especially if you’re going to be working on your save the dates on your desktop, laptop, sharing it with your fiancé on your tablet, etc.
Cons
Wish Images Pre-Loaded
Uploading photos was easy, but I wish the photos I uploaded into one design would be pre-uploaded for another design, too. For instance, I tried a photo of Andrew and I in one design but it looked better as a horizontal design; when I went into a horizontal option, I had to re-upload the photo. Not a big deal, and there’s probably a way to do it, so I’ll need to look further into this one.
As you can see, there are plenty more pros than cons — and, the only con I listed wasn’t a hindrance.
In conclusion, Shutterfly save the date cards are a wonderful product and I would recommend them to anyone! It’s a fun process and you’ll love how far you can really customize your cards to make them look and feel like your own design.
