Ok, brides: let’s be honest — you’ve probably triple-checked the seating chart, the playlist, and the emergency bobby pins. And I know you’ve packed this adorable honeymoon outfit. But in the whirlwind of planning, it’s so easy to forget those sneaky last-minute details that actually matter on your wedding day. If you’ve been Googling, “What am I forgetting for my wedding?”, you’re not alone; most couples worry miss something important. I remember crossing off a list of last minute things we might be missing just before mine, so I totally get it!

As your go-to wedding planner and essentially your virtual bridesmaid (who’s seen it all), I’ve rounded up the top things you don’t want to forget at your wedding — from the essentials to the unexpected.
Spoiler alert: You’ll thank yourself later.
1. Marriage License & IDs
This seems obvious… until you’re halfway to the ceremony. Pack your marriage license and both your photo IDs in your wedding bag now. No license = no legal “I Do.”
Get a marriage license holder so you don’t misplace it!
2. A Day-Of Contact (That’s Not You)
Every vendor needs someone to call in case of a missing table linen or late bus driver — and that person should not be you. Assign a maid of honor, planner, or trusted friend as your point of contact so you can stay blissfully unaware (and on time).
3. Meals for Your Vendors
Photographers, planners, musicians — they’re working long hours and will need a hot meal. It’s not just polite, it’s often in their contract. Double-check your catering order includes vendor meals.
4. The Overnight Bag
If you’re not going home after your wedding, pack your overnight bag ahead of time. Include:
- Comfy shoes or slippers
- Makeup wipes (get this giant bag of towelettes to give out to bridesmaids, too
- Change of clothes (highly recommend this set!)
- Cute getaway outfit/romper for the ride home / airport / etc.
- Snacks (you’ll be hungry at midnight, trust)
- Phone charger
Pack it all inside a cute duffel or weekender bag, like this from SSWeddings.
5. The Ceremony Decor
So much focus goes into the reception space that couples often forget ceremony essentials like:
- A table for the unity candle or sand ceremony
- A microphone or speaker if it’s outdoors
- Reserved seating signs for family
Don’t let your ceremony feel like an afterthought.
6. Vow Copies (Printed or Handwritten)
Whether you’re reciting custom vows or reading from your phone, don’t forget the script. We love these custom vow books from Etsy that double as keepsakes.
7. Someone to Pack Up at the End
Designate a person (or two) to gather:
- Leftover favors
- Your guestbook
- Cake topper
- Extra programs
- Your bouquet (you’ll want to preserve it: I HIGHLY recommend this company!)
- The card box
This cake topper by TheLocalKrafter ships fast!
8. A Rain Plan (Just in Case)
Outdoor weddings need a solid backup. Whether it’s a tent rental, indoor alternative, or a stash of clear umbrellas, have a backup plan you like, not just one that technically exists.
9. A Touch-Up Kit
Create a wedding day survival kit with:
- Lipstick
- Deodorant (hello, WHOLE BODY DEODORANT! If not on your wedding day, when?!)
- Fashion tape (this is the best one!)
- Blotting sheets
- Safety pins
- Tampons
- Tide pen
Bonus: Put your MOH in charge of it.
10. Cash for Tips
Have envelopes ready with gratuities for your hairstylist, officiant, DJ, and delivery drivers. Want to make it extra easy? Print our free Wedding Vendor Tipping Guide. ✅
11. Breakfast (Seriously, Eat)
Do not forget to eat the morning of your wedding. You’ll need the fuel — and no one wants a fainting bride. Bonus points if you pre-order breakfast or assign someone to bring coffee and bagels.
12. A Pair of Backup Shoes
Even if you think your wedding heels are comfy, pack flats or sneakers. You’ll want them by hour four of dancing — trust us.
13. A Timeline for the Wedding Party
Print a simple version of the schedule for bridesmaids, groomsmen, and family. Include key times like:
- When to arrive
- When to get dressed
- First look
- Ceremony start
- Reception events
No one should be asking you what’s next. You can make one here.
14. Your Ring Cleaner or Wipe
Your photographer will get those close-ups of the rings — so make sure they’re sparkling! A ring wipe or jewelry cleaner is an easy last-minute touch.
15. Reserved Seats at the Ceremony
Save the front row for immediate family. DIY signs like “Mother of the Bride” or “Grandpa Joe” go a long way to avoid any awkwardness.
16. Emergency Weather Add-Ons
Summer wedding? Bring sunscreen and bug spray. Winter wedding? Have cozy blankets for guests or hand warmers. These small touches make guests feel cared for.
17. A List of Must-Have Photos
Make a shot list for your photographer with names of family members and specific photos you don’t want to forget — like a ring photo with Grandma’s hands, your ring dish, a shot of your wedding invitation (hello, flat lays!) or a veil toss shot.
18. Music for Getting Ready
A good playlist = good vibes. Create one in advance so you’re not fumbling with Spotify when the glam squad arrives.
19. Your Phone (But Give It Away)
Bring it, yes. But hand it off to someone else so you’re not tempted to text vendors or check on the cake arrival. Your only job is getting married.
20. A Quiet Moment Together
Sneak away with your partner for 10 minutes post-ceremony. Soak it in, breathe, and savor the just married feeling.
21. Gratitude
Yes, things might go wrong. The cake might melt, or the flower girl may stage a protest. But don’t forget to pause and be grateful — for the love, the people, the memories.
This is your day. You’ve got this. 💛
