Have you heard of Zazzle for wedding invitations? Popular for creating your own artwork by uploading graphics and printing t-shirts, mugs, posters, and anything you can imagine, this previous gifting site is now one of the most popular for stationery. Why? In this blog post, we’ll cover Zazzle wedding invitations: the good, the bad, and the best tips to know BEFORE you buy invitations for your wedding on their website.
Let’s get started: you have a wedding to plan!
Zazzle Wedding Invites: Review
In the past few years, I’ve attended several weddings, assisted in planning many, and looked into stationery needs of my own personal use. (Hello, decorating!) There are several places to buy cheap wedding invitations, yet one seems to be a popular choice among couples at the moment.
Zazzle.
It used to be the only place where you could find custom gear: gift mugs, posters, mouse pads, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and more for custom projects were just a click away. Now you can enjoy all of those things, but a plethora of wedding goods, too.
Are Zazzle invitations good quality?
For parties and weddings, we’ve found that Zazzle has great quality when it comes to invitations. And their prices are pretty low, especially when you factor in discount codes at the ready.
There are different wedding themes, seasonal invitations, and color palettes from which to choose.
When it comes to quality, you’ll get good quality wedding invitations for your money at Zazzle. But the biggest thing to remember is to order the BEST cardstock you can. I’ve worked with couples who had to reprint due to choosing the wrong paper thickness, but other than that, the quality is pretty good at Zazzle.
Here are some important tips to keep in mind BEFORE you shop invitations on Zazzle.
How to Order Wedding Invitations on Zazzle.com
It’s easy to find your design and order invites on Zazzle.com. You can navigate to this section to see their latest designs and even browse or edit the list by “most relevant” or “most popular”. You can also search by “low to high” to find cheaper invitation styles.
Cheap Invitations
Most couples say they shop on Zazzle for wedding invitations because they’re so affordable. That’s true: the prices are cheaper than most wedding invitation sites. This is due to their flat printing style, where foil designs may be a design (rather than real foil) and you can’t select the same number of silhouette shapes as other retailers.
But for some, this isn’t a concern and they prefer the affordability vs. the fancy details.
They’re cheap… but what about the quality?
It’s normal to feel nervous about purchasing something for your wedding that is cheaper than others. Everyone wants to know they’re still getting the most for their money! As you can imagine, spending less on wedding invitations by purchasing them on Zazzle won’t do you any good in the long run if you need to reprint them due to a lack of quality.
In order to save money on invites and get the best bang for your buck, here are some of the best tips to keep in mind before you purchase wedding invitations on Zazzle.
1. Read reviews.
Before you purchase Zazzle wedding invitations, read as many reviews and ratings as possible for the design you like.
You can browse by theme, which makes it super easy to shop. Here’s an example of their rustic collection:
As with all wedding products, you’ll want to read reviews before you shop. If you find a wedding invitation design that works for you, check out the designer’s reviews first. Most are glowing! I’m impressed by the quality of reviews and ratings on Zazzle, TBH.
2. Purchase the best cardstock you can for invitations.
One of the major benefits of shopping for wedding invitations on Zazzle is the insanely low prices. But don’t be fooled by cheap paper options. If you choose the cheapest paper for printing the invitations, they’ll look and feel flimsy in your hands and the color will bleed through to the other side.
Take my word for it, as I’ve seen it done countless times… and then couples have to purchase an entire re-print, which ends up costing them closer to top-tier invitations but with a budget item.
Most invitations require 80lb cardstock to be in a good range. You’ll feel the difference when you purchase nicer cardstock versus lighter, flimsier paper. Spend the extra to get quality cardstock and thank me later. :)
3. Bundle your wedding items and save.
Saving money with Zazzle wedding invitations is a smart investment, but then there comes the big splurge: shipping. Shipping costs at Zazzle is comparable to other wedding invitation stores, but you will save money by purchasing additional stationery items to match at the same time vs. placing multiple orders.
For instance, when you’re ready to purchase save the dates, you may find it beneficial to order Zazzle wedding invitations, RSVP cards, RSVP envelopes, and enclosure cards at the same time. Take it one step further and finalize your wedding programs to order those, too. What about signage? You can get everything ordered for your wedding altogether and save a bundle on shipping costs.
Plus, you’ll have the items in hand earlier than needed, so you won’t be stressing about print times and shipping availability as your wedding date gets closer. (Win-win!)
4. Proofread.
Before you order wedding invitations on Zazzle, proofread them. And then do it again. And then send it over to your Mom, your partner, your best friend, your sister, etc. Make sure you get a few eyes on the invitation wording, the style, the colors, the fonts, and the time and date to make sure everything is 100% accurate before you place your order.
Once you place the order, your Zazzle invitations will be printed for your wedding and there’s no going back! If you need to fix something later on, it’s going to be another re-print which will cost you more money (and time wasted).
By proofreading, you can ensure your wedding invitations are done perfectly the first time.
5. Order early.
And last but not least, be sure to order wedding invitations on Zazzle as early as possible. In some cases, shipping and printing can be delayed, especially during peak summer months when weddings are bustling! The fall season is especially busy when it comes to invitation printing. Get ahead of the curve and make sure you select, edit, and proof your wedding invitations to order so they fall into this proper sending timeline. You’ll be grateful you did!
