Kendall and Brian’s Colorado Chic wedding was absolutely beautiful! They were married last August in a Denver Catholic Church and had their reception at the Chatfield Botanical Gardens. Kendall choose her birthstone, emerald, as their wedding color. It looked fantastic! Their photos were captured by Emmy from Searching for the Light Photography. You’ll see from the lovely photos and their amazing story why this Colorado Chic wedding is one of our favorites…
Colorado Chic Wedding
Emmy tells us, “Kendall and Brian’s wedding wasn’t focused on the extreme attention to detail but rather their purity in devotion to each other in their unique relationship founded in faith. While Kendall did spend countless hours carving holes into logs for her decorations, and they had a co-worker design a logo for their wedding, they didn’t want the focus to be on any objects beauty but rather on the beauty of God in their union together and their family and friends joining around them on this day.”
Why did you choose to get married where you did? The bride tells us, “We met at our first ‘big kid’ job after college at a marketing agency in Lower Downtown, Denver. Often, we would attend daily mass at Holy Ghost which sparked a conversion experience for Kendall and led her to come back to the Catholic Church after many years of being active in a non-denominational faith community. Even though we now both belong to Saint Thomas More (STM) Catholic Parish we knew that we wanted to get married where it all started, at Holy Ghost. The night we got engaged we both envisioned a barn at our reception. Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Prairie Canopy felt like the perfect place for us to throw a party. Chatfield is both lovely, open, rustic, relaxed and captured the beauty of our state. The dance floor beneath a very old and large lit tree was very romantic.”
Why was your wedding unique? “We have been blessed with an awesome community of Catholics, Protestants and non-believers. All of these people have impacted our lives and have helped shape our beliefs. It was important to us that all people who attended our ceremony feel loved and an important part of our sacrament of marriage. We spent a lot of time praying for the mass and all that would attend as well as discussing with Father John Paul ways in which we can make everyone feel comfortable. We felt God really blessed this desire and the holy spirit move hearts. We wanted our reception to be a relaxed and fun event that was also ‘Colorado chic’. We wanted everyone to get a taste of Colorado (literally with all Colorado brewed beers and BBQ), loosen their ties, dance, laugh, play some corn toss and enjoy the 5280 sunshine.”
Where did you find your inspiration? “We found a lot of inspiration in the things that we both already love and do. We spend a lot of time together hanging out with friends and family, attending mass, volunteering with the STM youth, BBQing, and playing corn toss. We also found inspiration in the jewel tone, emerald, which is Kendall’s birthstone and was our main wedding color as it is timeless, romantic and beautiful. The life, faith and love story of Kendall’s grandparents (Don and Marie) inspired both our wedding and our relationship. Kendall was lucky enough to receive and adorn her bouquet with a rosary made from Marie’s wedding bouquet as well wear a very special set of sapphire and diamond rings that also belongs to Marie (something borrowed and blue). Our very talented and dear friend, Olivia Nass, was our creative mastermind. In addition to designing our website, invitations, programs and save the dates she created a logo that helped inspire a lot of our wedding. The B&K is joined together by a birds wings that created a “V” for Vogel (Vogel means bird in German).”
