Who loves Colorado engagement sessions? We’re excited to share with you Courtney and Kirby’s lovely engagement session! Their session was taken in downtown Denver by Emmy from Searching for the Light Photography. Emmy tells us, “When I first meet Courtney & Kirby I knew they were going to be so much fun to work with. Courtney is so adorable and fun loving. Kirby is calm, quiet and genuinely happy, but most importantly these two are crazy about each other – which of course makes my job so much fun! I love how much they laugh together and how comfortable they are in each others arms. They moved together to Denver not knowing anyone and starting new with nothing. I love how it seems that transition really bonded them well and how much they are in love with this city. So it was very fitting that we took pictures at Union Station and in LoDo near Commons Park. I hadn’t been inside Union Station before but man is it gorgeous, good job Denver on hiring amazingly talented architects and interior designers!”
Courtney + Kirby’s Colorado Engagement Session
Courtney says, “We chose Commons Park and Union Station because its what we love about downtown Denver! All the historic buildings and the charm from Union Station paired with the mountain views and small town park feel of Commons are exactly what Kirby and I wanted captured in the pictures… aside from our deep connection & love for one another, obviously.”
“We are getting married up in the mountains of Evergreen, Colorado, but live in downtown Denver so we thought taking engagement pictures in the city and wedding pictures in the mountains gave us the best of both worlds. The mugs were a last minute decision, but fit so perfectly with us because we always walk through Commons Park on the weekends with our dog Ace to grab coffee from the shop right there.”
“I really loved the plaid blanket, actually even more than I thought I would! The vibrant red Emmy caught from the blanket is amazing especially when it was up against the dull winter colors of the park. It was also was really windy and pretty cold so I was extra happy I had that blanket for a few of the shots!”
“The most unique thing, I think, about our session was the snow! It didn’t last long at all, but the magic it added to the pictures Emmy caught of it are unreal. The green pine tress, the white snow and my very colorful scarf all went so well together, but were really all unplanned! I am a huge Pinterest fan so I got a lot of inspiration from that, but really just went off of things we love. We tried staying true to who we are as a couple and kept things simple! That’s what allowed us to have such an amazing time on the shoot… oh, and a glass of champagne beforehand helped keep the giggles coming :)”
