This wedding in Lincoln Park, Chicago, Illinois, had an adorable theme. Stassia and Grae’s Lincoln Park wedding had a literary theme that encompassed their love for books. The bride Stassia tells us, “Grae and I met and started dating in college, about ten years ago. We are both super laid back people; and while we love entertaining small groups of friends, we were both daunted by the idea of a wedding. This was especially true due to the fact that neither of us felt very connected to weddings commonly portrayed in the media or movies/television. We are both pretty nerdy and huge bookworms, so we chose a literary theme for the wedding, and that made everything else feel more accessible and exciting.” Find out more about their wedding and see their amazing photos captured by Jennifer from J Wiley Photography!
Lincoln Park Wedding
“The most important aspects of the wedding for us were the ceremony and making sure our friends and family had a great time. We focused mostly on the food and music, everything else was chosen mostly because it was simple and felt right. The wedding was held in September, so we used a very broad fall color palette.”
“Our wedding planner, Lori, found an old card catalogue box which we used for the escort cards.”
“The Save the Dates looked like library cards that came in old books.”
“The ceremony was led by a friend of ours from college, with family members giving readings from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin and Billy Collins, and a hand tying during which my sister sang She Moved Through the Fair.”
“Our centerpieces used our favorite books that we thought somehow related to the people seated at each table.”
“Another very early decision was to hold the ceremony and reception at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Lincoln Park. The museum is like a beautiful small oasis in the middle of the city, so most of the wedding decor was simply an extension of the already gorgeous surroundings.”
“The rest of the night was so much more fun than I ever imagined it would be. We danced all night to the awesome DJ, goofed around in the photo booth; and when it was over, we all moved to a local bar and played darts and pool! As time passes, we forget the little details that went into the wedding, but I will always remember the incredible feelings of love, joy, and fun that came from each person on that day.”

This is so gorgeous! My favorite part is the use of the card catalogue. So cute and original.
Anna, I love the card catalogue, too! Thanks for visiting!
