When newlywed Charney showed us photos of her dream wedding to Rasheem, we couldn’t wait to share them with you! Charney and Rasheem planned their beautiful Mansion on Main Street wedding in Voorhees, New Jersey. Charney tells us about their wedding planning experience and says,
“We wanted a wedding that displayed an African flair while exhibiting a sense of classic elegance. Our goal was simple: incorporate details that gave a nod to culture and blend it with our New Jersey roots by hosting it in our hometown among our closest family and friends. In honor of tradition we took part in a ‘Tasting of the Elements’ ceremony to demonstrate a commitment to remaining together no matter what life may bring. Additionally, we ‘tied the knot’ with a piece Kente cloth wrapped around our wrists to illustrate unity.”
She tells us how special her wedding day meant to them, continuing with, “Our wedding day was filled with so many memorable moments that we will cherish forever. Looking back, what made our wedding extra special was Rasheem’s grandmother, who was battling cancer, got to see her grandson get married before passing away three weeks later.”
Watch their day as it unfolded below, captured by Foster Ambitions Photography.
Mansion on Main Street Wedding
Rasheem surprised his bride with a necklace on the morning of the wedding…
I love this photo: pure happiness!
The bride and her beautiful bridesmaids, who wore matching leopard print bridesmaid robes:
Once the bride and her bridesmaids were ready, they headed over to the ceremony where the groom was waiting. Here’s how they decorated their ceremony space:
I love the sign that leads guests to the ceremony reading, “Can I get a witness?” So cute!
Charney and Rasheem focused on every detail. They even had custom wedding programs designed, which looked amazing. They were designed to look like mini magazines.
And a cute sign one of the flower girls carried which read, “Rasheem, just wait until you see her”.
The bride and groom look so happy!
The bride and groom participated in two unique unity ceremonies. The first was a ‘Tasting of the Elements’ ceremony to demonstrate remaining together no matter what life may bring. The second was a ‘tying of the knot’ where they wrapped a piece of Kente cloth around their wrists to illustrate unity.
Now… married!
I love these newlywed portraits:
The Reception
A beautiful sign with ‘Charney & Rasheem Williams’ with ‘Est. 2015’ was placed on an easel to welcome guests to the wedding.
Check out the cake!
I love Charney’s reception dress:
Instead of a traditional guest book, Charney and Rasheem used wood pieces from a Jenga game for guests to sign. When they play the game, they’ll see signatures and well wishes written by family and friends.
Everyone had an awesome time dancing at the reception!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful wedding day with us, Charney & Rasheem! We wish you many years of health & happiness!
