Rustic Arizona Wedding
The Proposal: “I came home from work and Kevin had a Golden Snitch (from Harry Potter) necklace hanging in our bedroom. When I opened it up, it read “Will you marry me?” There were many other personal touches to the proposal but they wouldn’t make sense to anyone other than Kevin and I.”
“I wanted the flowers to have a very calm, earthy tone to them. Nothing too bright or loud. They were a mixture of cream flowers and succulents.”
How did you pick your dress? “My dress was actually the first dress I tried on, even though I tried on about 20 others after just to make sure. For me, it was the perfect amount of modern and vintage. None of the other dresses I tried on compared to it.”
Tell us about the groom’s suit, bridesmaids’ dresses and groomsmans’ suits… what made them unique? “We wanted to go with tan suits to match our earth tones theme. The bridesmaids dresses matched the color theme as well. One thing that is unique about my bridesmaid’s dress is that it was actually one of her own dresses. I wanted her to wear something she was comfortable in and matched perfectly with the theme.”
What was your theme and color scheme? “Our colors were sage green and burlap. We had a rustic/earthy theme. We wanted everything to look very simple and natural.”
How was your wedding decorated? “I made most of the decor at our wedding. I’m a teacher and while I was off over the summer I was able to make a majority of the decorations. Anything else was ordered from Etsy.”
What food did you serve at the wedding? “We had a fresh salad to start off, then guests chose from peach-glazed chicken or beef tri-tip with a burgundy reduction sauce. We also had a signature cinnamon apple Sangria.”
What kind of entertainment did you provide for your guests? “We played the Newly-wed game and answered questions from guests. It was hilarious! Other than that, we just had a DJ and dance floor.”
Biggest Surprise, Special Moments, or Advice: “The biggest surprise was how fast everything went by. It was all kind of a blur. The entire night was one big special moment! I wouldn’t be able to choose! Have fun! Try not to stress because the night is over with so quickly.”
