Today, we’re featuring Tiffany and Wes’ gorgeous Wilmington wedding! Their recent wedding took place at the breathtaking Airlie Gardens. There in a little chapel tucked away they were wed. Tiffany and and Wes’ love for the water played well with green and blue colors. Their celebration continued with lots of dancing at the reception and ended with a magical send off under sparklers. Gorgeous Wilmington Wedding at Airlie Gardens
The bride, Tiffany, tells us all about how they met, how he proposed, and the big day. Take it away, Tiffany!
“We could not have asked for a more beautiful spring day to spend with close friends and family as we exchanged vows and celebrated on the water into the March evening. Wes and I met doing just that one Fourth of July weekend at Mason’s Inlet, Wrightsville Beach, NC. Relaxing on the boat and meeting through mutual friends, we had an instant connection. He will tell you it was the gigantic flounder he had caught that day that won my heart, but it was a little more than that. ;)
A few years later, living a coastal lifestyle and always looking for a new adventure, we set out to ring in the new year of 2016 in Bali. It was here, in the stunning rice fields, a country filled with love and serenity, that I was completely surprised when I turned around to find Wes on one knee. With tears of joy, of course I said yes, even lining things up for a wedding on the Indonesian Island. However, later deciding that we wanted to be home with our loved ones for the very special day.
The small, quaint chapel at Airlie Gardens was the perfect location for our intimate ceremony. It was very important for the both of us to keep things simple, with the primary focus on the true meaning of why we were there. Acoustic Beatles love songs filled the chapel as the sun light glistened beautifully on the nearly 200 year wooden floors. Wes stood at the alter with his father by his side, patiently awaiting my arrival as our nieces and nephew led the way.
After the “I do’s”, we were off to capture some of the most beautiful backdrops in Wilmington…. Airlie Gardens and the sunset park on Harbour Island. Eric did an amazing job capturing the light of each moment at every angle.
We then set off via a white ’64 Pontiac GTO convertible for dinner and dancing at Bluewater. Our first dance was “Loving You is Sweeter Than Ever” by Susan Tedeschi. DJ Charles Echols rocked the night away and kept everyone on the dance floor. We didn’t miss a beat! After eating an abundance of great food, homemade cakes by local friends, drinks and dancing, we ended the night with a sparkler exit on the dock and enjoyed a boat cruise to the Blockade Runner. A perfect day that led to a perfect night and a beautiful start to a lifetime of marriage.
We planned this wedding in less than 6 weeks, as we knew we wanted to beat the wedding peak season and did not want to wait another year. To all of the future brides to be, it is your day and you can do as little or as much as you want, just make it you! If you do that, I promise you will be the happiest bride and groom ever and enjoy the day to the fullest!
