Need a Chicago wedding tent rental? If you’re wondering where to get a tent for a Chicago wedding reception, ceremony, or both, you’ve come to the right place!

Emma here and when bride-to-be, Lisa, wrote us back in February about her summer wedding in Chi-town, we needed to find a really knowledgeable and professional tent rental company, one capable enough to handle the sometimes crazy wind, and we found the perfect Chicago wedding tent company.

And find it, we did!

In this post, we’ll tell you where to hire a Chicago wedding tent professional, some tips to know about tenting, and where to find a great venue near Chicago with exceptional views, ideal for a tent reception, ceremony, or both.

PRO TIP: As we mentioned in our wedding podcast, a tent is *always* a great thing to have if you’re planning an outdoor ceremony, just in case of rain. Also good to have: these blankets for guests and always good to remember these outdoor bathroom tips!

You may have wondered if you can rent a tent for your Chicago wedding. It’s so windy all the time… but it’s also really sunny and picturesque, too. The answer: of course you can rent a tent for a Chicago wedding. But don’t just rent with anyone.

Find a professional Chicago tent rental

For your tent wedding ceremony or reception — maybe even both! — hire only a professional who knows how to handle the craziness of mother nature, as she is throwing a whole lot of wind and all sorts of trouble, any time she pleases. ;)

You’ll also want to know the proper size tent you need for your huge celebration, the proper placement of the tent, what kind of tent style to go with (did you know there were a few to choose from? I did not!), the accessories like tables, chairs, and more, etc.

Hire a tent specialist who truly does it all: Chicago Tent Rental. See their website here.

The team of Jim, Joie, and John have a passion for providing excellent Chicago wedding tents and amazing customer service; if you need a solid tent in Chicago or nearby, this is your team!

Here are a few things to know when you’re planning to rent a tent for your wedding, whether it be in Chicago, Detroit, New York, Boston, San Francisco — anywhere and everywhere.

Wedding Tent Rental Tips: Chicago + Beyond

1. Hire a professional tent rental specialist.

Tents are a big deal: to properly rent a tent for your wedding, you want to hire a team who has done it time and time again. There are several unknowns like weather, location, and placement; a professional will know where, how to do it, and what size you need for your event.

2. Figure out what kind of tent you need.

Do you need a pole tent? A frame tent? Maybe a structure tent? You can learn about “Tenting 101” here.

3. Don’t underestimate the size of the tent required.

Although you might save a little money, never skimp on the size of tent you really need. You wouldn’t want guests to feel like seating is too tight or there’s no room for dancing or to move around and chat with others. Make sure you include enough square footage for a solid dance floor, sit down dinner or buffet dinner, extra room for your cake table, guest book table (’cause I know you’re totally doing one of these!), etc.

Some of these tent sizes tips help! I found the chart so helpful when deciding how much square footage you really need; a lot of careful thought and planning goes into a perfect wedding tent when you work with a pro.

4. Pick a rental company that offers more than just the tent.

The tent is important, but don’t forget everything else that comes along with it!

Why hire a bunch of different vendors when you can just hire one to do it all? For instance, Chicago Tent Rental offers everything you need to rent for an outdoor wedding like chairs, tables, lighting, side walls, a dance floor, climate control, and so much more.

They even have suggestions for things you might not have considered yet, like umbrellas for guests in case it rains, sidewalls to keep out too much sun or rain, lighting for that picture-perfect evening, or even in loving memory signs to honor lost loved ones at your wedding.

Chicago Wedding Tent Rental Locations

As mentioned earlier, we worked with Lisa directly on her tent location; while searching, we found one amazing Chicago wedding venue we had to share and, turns out, they work frequently with Chicago Tent Rental, so it’s really a win-win!

Known to locals as “The Lodge”, it is surrounded by 52 acres of woodland and is truly one of Chicago’s hidden gems.

The Katherine Legge Memorial Lodge is a historic venue located in Hinsdale, Illinois. (You can see their website here.)

Aside from being a gorgeous venue, Chicago Tent Rental is a preferred supplier of wedding tents, tables, and chairs at The Lodge. Now you know WHERE to have your Chicago area wedding… and WHO to hire for a Chicago tent rental for your wedding! (Hinsdale is only about 30 minutes from Chi-town.)
