And, if you weren’t already geared up summer yet, you’ll be ready to break out the flip flops and SPF after this post! Enjoy!
Beach Wedding: 15 Amazing Ideas
* * *
1. Parasols for Guests (+ the Bridal Party)
Parasols are a great way to keep the sun out of your guests’ faces (and will also keep bridesmaids from blinking during photographs). Parasols also make for memorable photographs on the beach with your bridal party, as seen below.
2. Beach Wedding Drink Cozies
This may be the most fun beach wedding favor we’ve ever seen. We have seen custom wedding beer cozies before, but this one’s especially witty. It reads, “Have and To Hold, To Keep Your Beer Cold”.
3. Ribbon Wands for Flower Girls
For happy flower girls and fun photographs, ask your little ones to carry ribbon wands down the aisle instead of flowers. They’re more whimsical and can be enjoyed even after the ceremony while running around on the sand.
4. Beach Wedding Altar
A beach wedding altar doesn’t have to be extravagant; after all, the backdrop of the ocean waves is already the perfect backdrop! However, if you’d prefer an altar for your beach wedding, here’s one we love…
5. Blankets for Guests to Sit (+ to Cozy Up at Night)
Offer blankets for guests to sit on the sand or to cozy up at night when it gets a little chilly.
6. Something Blue for the Bride
A beach bride needs something blue to wear down the aisle. These handmade blue jewelry pieces are stunning, remind us of the ocean, and make a great keepsake for the bride for after the wedding.
7. An Old VW Van to Cart the Bridal Party
Travel to and fro while snapping photographs with your bridal party in an old-school, beach ready VW van. While you may not have one lying around, ready to be used on your wedding day, we still couldn’t resist sharing these incredibly fun photos!
8. Shoe Check
No coats, no shoes, no problem. Make sure guests get comfy in the sand and kick off those heels right from the start with a shoe check! Include a pail of flip flops for guests to grab, particularly on days when the sand is too hot to touch.
9. A signature Cocktail
A Happy Couple + Mojitos = A Perfect Beach Wedding. Create a signature drink that you love to offer during cocktail hour for a fun spin on your soiree:
10. An Irresistible Cake
Tie your entire theme together in every aspect, including the cake! We love the adirondack chair cake toppers and the brown sugar used to look like sand. Yum!
11. Wedding Guest Book Chair
Guest books are a must-have for your wedding, but a guest book you can use after the wedding is a brilliant idea! This Adirondack chair guest book is one guest book you’ll love to hold on to forever. Grab a pair from your favorite store (make sure they’re ones you’ll love to sit in on the porch for years) and have guests sign the arm rests with white sharpie marker. Coat the chair in a clear protectant after the wedding to ensure the signatures stick around for years. This chair is awesome because it’s fold-able, which means transporting to and from your wedding will be a breeze! It’s super affordable, too.
12. Plenty of Cigars
The groomsmen will thank you (as will your father, father-in-law, uncles, and grandfather) if you offer plenty of fine cigars ready to be smoked on the sandy beach at sunset.
13. Just Married Wedding Bikes
Ride away into the sunset in a pair of ‘his’ and ‘hers’ bicycles! This his and hers bicycle idea is one of the cutest things we’ve seen yet! Don’t forget the ‘Just Married’ signs!
14. Wish Lanterns Set Adrift at Night
Setting a wish lantern (“sky lantern”) looks beautiful in the sky at night and is fun for guests! (Wondering where to buy? We found some great sky lanterns here.)
15. Bonfire on the Beach
Break out the chairs, firewood, and starry skies and include a bonfire at dusk. Don’t forget to include a smore making station – guests of all ages (particularly the kids) will love you for it!

sky lanterns are now considered illegal fireworks almost everywhere, oregon / idaho / washington …. so be sure to check with your state … we had to do water wish lanterns instead.
I have never thought of a wedding guest book chair, what a lovely idea! And about the sky lanterns – I did this on my beach wedding and it was absolutely the best way to end the night! There are even some images here: http://beachwedding.tips/2014/11/19/lynns-beach-wedding/
