Today we’re helping you pick your wedding hairstyle AND the right accessory to accompany it thanks to Gina’s expertise. Go grab that coffee and let’s get started!
How to Pick a Wedding Hairstyle
Let’s start with three simple tips every bride should know before picking a bridal hairstyle.
How to Pick a Wedding Hairstyle: #1 – Choose a hairstyle based on your current hair length and color.
Unless your wedding is a year or more, you’re probably working with the hairstyle you currently have. We may all dream of growing it long for the big day, but in reality it may not grow that fast. You can always do extensions. Or chop off all your hair. Just kidding (don’t make any big decisions right now, kind of like “should I get bangs?”)
Case-in-point: your hair right now is what you’ve got, and it’s awesome. So, rock what you’ve got and be sure to get a small trim (to clean up those split ends), and maybe get some highlights or color if you’re in need of it.
How to Pick a Wedding Hairstyle: #2 – Always do a run-through of your bridal hairstyle first.
Before the big day, do a run-through with your hairstylist to see exactly what your up-do (or hair down style) will look like BEFORE your wedding. This can prevent any disappointment, encourage a different style if needed, and give you plenty of time to re-evaluate.
Or you’ll love the look and you’ll wear it out to your bachelorette party and look amazing! Either way, it’s a great way to work with your hairstylist ahead of time. This is a good time to do a makeup trial run, too.
How to Pick a Wedding Hairstyle: #3 – Choose what accessory you’ll wear in your hair.
Your hairstyle will look different depending on what kind of accessory you pair with it, i.e. a veil, no veil, a bridal hair comb, a hair vine, fascinator, flower, or other cool accessory you find.
Bring your accessory to wear in your hair for the run-through mentioned in #2 for an accurate depiction of the wedding hairstyle and so your hairstylist can figure out the best placement for the beautiful piece.
Now that you know the top tips for wedding hairstyles, let’s talk about what to wear in your hair and some bridal hairstyle inspiration — aka, the “fun part”. :)
