Out with the old, in with the new as they say! We’re welcoming in the fresh year with what’s hot – and what’s not – for 2024. with that, a brand new take on wedding trends 2024. But what trend-setters are in and what’s out for 2024? Read this blog post to find out.
From champagne towers to curvy wedding invites — okay, even this chic mix of the two — we’re seeing many wedding trends that are in for 2024.
Let’s start with stationery that is full of fun and whimsy: wavy wedding invites are IN!
1. Curvy / Wavy Wedding Stationery
I can’t say that certain invites are OUT this year, since nothing is really out in terms of invitations. But I’ll tell you what is in: wavy invitations, curvy detailing, and whimsical patterns on all kinds of wedding stationery from invites to save the dates, menus, table numbers, and more. Have a little fun with it: we love this whimsical curvy wedding stationery trend!

We’re also seeing it in Retro form, like these wavy menus:
And in welcome signs! This wavy sign is perfect for yours (made by TheScriptedStudioCo):
And it shouldn’t surprise you that waves are taking over rings like this one and bridesmaid shirts – like these, too.
Don’t miss these amazing wavy menus – they’re worth the look!
2. Mismatched Bridesmaid Dresses
OUT with the matching looks, IN with mismatched bridesmaids! This style has been growing in popularity but this year we expect to see it grow even greater. How does a mismatched look work, you ask? That’s easy! Brides are choosing one color and asking bridesmaids to pick any dress in that shade, whether strapless, one-shoulder, long, short, anything.
Another way to do it is to choose different colors for each bridesmaid, all part of a complementing palette (i.e. jewel tones). The sky is the limit and the results look incredible in photos. Plus, bridesmaids actually love the dress they wear, since they get to pick it out. Score!
► Not sure where to start? If you need expert advice to do it right and nail this look for YOUR wedding, Libby Lamont Styling offers a comprehensive bridesmaid mismatching style service backed by rave reviews.

3. Alternative Guest Books
One of the biggest wedding trends that are OUT in 2024 is the standard guest book. Now, if that’s your style, don’t be discouraged. You should still pick anything that makes you happy. But we’re seeing more couples opting for alternative types of guest books: vinyl records signed vs. a typical book. Audio guest books where guests record a message. A layered sign made of wood that serves as a signature board – and a long-lasting keepsake at home.
The bottom line is, couples want something unique they can look at for years to come. Guests want to sign something other than a piece of paper. It works for everyone.

5. Fun Reception Displays
From ice cream carts to lawn games, all eyes are on the reception this year – with a twist. Keep an eye out for interactive displays, like champagne towers and donut walls, pretzel walls, and cotton-candy makers. We’re also seeing a new addition to the dessert bar: a cannoli bar! Yep, your dreams just came true. :) We’re hearing more couples requesting this add-on to their dessert bar more than ever before!
And the biggest one to date: champagne towers. You can get a pre-assembled champagne tower here and make an epic touch to your reception bar.
5. Disposable Cameras
Hello, throwback! Instead of photo booths and instant pictures, couples are opting for retro disposable cameras placed at tables around the reception. A disposable camera has film inside with no preview, so all the snapshots are a total surprise. There’s also a limited number of pictures you can take on each roll of film. Once the roll is finished, you turn in the film to have developed and you’ll get a surprise pack of pictures taken by guests.
► PRO TIP: You can buy disposable cameras in bulk packs to save money (and I swear by this brand, it has the best quality).
6. Unique Seating Charts
Rather than simple signage, couples are choosing fun seating signs that are more than just posters. We’re seeing mirrors, frosted styles, and photo boards are topping the charts this year!
An arch-shaped seating chart in acrylic is one popular choice (by ZCreateDesign):
And you’ll also be seeing plenty of this photo seating chart trend – by Julie Hanan Design – as another hot style. The seating cards all work together to create this awesome picture of the couple. How unique!
7. Reception Outfits
One gown is great, but two looks? Even better! Brides are opting for a 2nd look for the reception in all kinds of ways, from elegant floor-length reception dresses to cute and short dance-ready skirts. We’re also seeing a resurgence of the bridal suit, as well as pantsuits, which are a fun way to make a second grand entrance! Browse these looks for inspo.
