Ahhh…a Northern Michigan wedding! Megan and Peach’s wedding in Northern Michigan’s township of Glen Arbor was fantastic. The wedding overlooking Lake Michigan was truly magnificent. The wedding’s many elements include: creative themed peach gear, a wedding dress to die for, wedding favor jams, custom matchboxes with fresh cigars, and beautiful flowers. The desired location of the wedding was at the breathtaking Homestead Resort. The photographers of choice were Elizabeth and Jan-Michael from Priceless Photography, Inc. The result of a superbly planned wedding and photos that capture true love in Northern Michigan await you with words from the bride…
Northern Michigan Wedding
Megan tells us, “Chris, known by all friends and family by the nickname ‘Peach’, and I had been together since eighth grade when we tied the knot last July. Having dated for nearly ten years, making it work across different countries and states, we knew who “we” were and we wanted our wedding to reflect this. The Homestead was the perfect venue for us, we loved the rustic formal feel and the exposed wooden beams in the reception space. We also fell in love with the idea of having our ceremony looking over Lake Michigan and, of course, the fact all guests and wedding party members were to arrive to the top of the hill via chairlift.”
“Although the details (bridal party tanks with a giant peach on them, photos of our ten “sweet” years together by the pie table, a cigar bar with cigars we bought together pre-wedding while visiting our godchild in the Dominican Republic, etc.) are in large part what made the wedding different and unique, we tried to focus on our guests – family and friends, many of whom we rarely see – and just having FUN. Fun we had, and the time went by so quickly we always say how we wish could get married every year.”
“We had a blast on the dance floor – sweaty, crowded, and just plain crazy – and finished the night off with a party bus to a local bar. Who cares if the venue requests the music be turned off by 11:30…take the party elsewhere! We were both so glad we did not get too caught up in following every “tradition” we had seen done in other weddings or read about in books and magazines. We had all pies for dessert and never cut cake, I never did a first dance with my Dad because, well, we don’t dance…we used what wedding traditions felt right to us and left out those that didn’t.”
“I loved the J Crew bridesmaids dresses, different styles but same color and texture, any my now-husband in a different tie than his groomsmen – the matchy-matchy look definitely is not our thing. I loved that the DJ didn’t run the show and my Dad played the part of MC when needed. I loved having special and so very talented family and friends sing during the ceremony. I loved that I had three pairs of shoes and didn’t decide which to wear until the last minute. I loved that we avoided picking just one or two “wedding colors” and went with a more general color scheme and feel instead. It truly was an amazing, unforgettable day.”
