Rustic Glam: A Florida Backyard Bridal Shower
By Lindsay Fiest of Adore Amor Event Planning
I have hosted numerous showers in my home and simply love the intimacy and privacy an at home shower provides. There is just something special about opening your home to your closest friends and celebrating such a sentimental milestone in such a relaxed atmosphere. I am here to show you today that you can combine a DIY at home shower with a few high end details to really pull off a sophisticated look just about anywhere at anytime!
In planning this particular rustic glam soiree my initial consult was with Michelle Lewis at Bluegrass Chic Weddings. After a quick discussion of the total vision for the day she came up with some downright magnificent rustic centerpieces. I had DIY’d three large glitter mason jars and she filled them with the perfect combination of dianthus, bells of Ireland, purple monte casino, carnations, mini green hydrangea, petite roses, and delphinium.
We pulled my dark wood dining room table and chairs outside and set the jars on wood slices surrounded by silver mercury votives.
I knew in addition to fabulous flowers I was going to need massive amounts of bling to counter all of the wood and natural elements that having a wooded preserve in your backyard entails. My second stop was a consult with A Chair Affair. Here I found the two gorgeous crystal chandeliers and instantly knew I had to incorporate them in to the design. While there I also decided on their sparkly Champagne chargers, Gatsby flatware, and simply stated standard water goblets and champagne flutes.
Our table setting was completed with linens rented from Over The Top, a white runner and six white napkins. Each girl’s place at the table was set with an assortment of low profile coordinating florals, some loose crystals, and a kraft tag adorned with a pretty flowing purple ribbon with each of their names beautifully penned in silver ink by the talented Margaret Beles from Do Tell Calligraphy.
No bridal shower would be complete without a little champagne and a toast to the bride- to-be, so in the name of rustic glamour we set up an expansive mimosa bar on top of three wine barrels and a farm table top also from A Chair Affair. I added a little glam by accessorizing the table with the fun and flowy purple and silver tissue garland I found in the Etsy Shop Tassel & Twine. Guests could then choose their own juice and top with a fruit garnish served up in what else? More mason jars of course! Do Tell Calligraphy provided the lovely vintage mirror that we positioned behind the mimosa bar and I also placed a glass beverage dispenser off to the right side filled with blackberry infused ice water because let’s face it, it’s Florida and it is HOT and it’s hip to stay hydrated.
I decided to set up the dessert table on an antique secretary desk that typically resides in our living room. Pulling it outside and dressing it up with the amazing confections created by Jenn’s Cakes and Other Bakes was so much fun. The top of the table was tailored specifically to our bride-to-be with some DIY glittered cardboard letters and another fabulous hand lettered sign by Do Tell Calligraphy. The semi-naked cake was dressed up with berries, drizzled with a glaze, and topped with an organic muslin bunting cake topper customized with the couple’s initials and wedding date from Franny Chicago also on Etsy.
Jenn’s desserts looked amazing, but the magic truly lies in the taste. She is the real deal and puts her whole heart and soul into every order and it shows in the amazing flavors and looks she pulls together.
The gift table was an easy setup. I covered my existing wooden patio table with a silver micro sequin table cloth from Over The Top. DIY’d some purple bunting with silver letters and small silver clothespins (all stuff I found at Michael’s) and topped with a few matching floral bud vases.
I used the same sequin table cloth and another of Tassel & Twine‘s Garland to set up a small photo backdrop for a few fun photos with mega sparkle.
The bride-to-be and her two bridesmaids were dressed by the local and sister-owned Never Naked Boutique. Their hair and makeup was done by the amazingly talented Anna Majewski of Element Beauty Bar and Med Spa, and their stacked bangles were provided by Mrs. Brittany Almon, owner of Handcraft Hope, a shop that not only creates amazing jewelry, but also gives back by donating a portion of all proceeds to various charitable causes.
And there you have it! The perfect rustic glam backyard bridal shower!”
