Before you shop bridal hair accessories online, STOP! Collaborate and listen. ;) Read this post first and subscribe here for the latest to your inbox. We’re fun, promise!
Hi, lovelies! When you’re a bride-to-be, buying bridal hair accessories online can bring on a little anxiety. Buying anything online can make you anxious — like the bathing suit I bought last week and thank goodness, it did fit — since you don’t know if you’ll be able to return it, whether it is a hassle, and if the item you are dreaming about (like my one-piece suit, which did look like the photo btw!) will truly look the same in person as it did on your computer screen or phone.
When you’re buying ANYTHING for your wedding online, you may feel even more nervous about it, since there’s such a big emphasis on it being for your wedding day.
The easiest place to shop (coronavirus or post-corona, whenever that comes) is online. Ya know, in your PJs sipping on coffee or wine.
This isn’t limited to boring buys, like the giant toilet paper run I do here or these bulk batteries I swear by for hundreds of things around the house. It’s cheap, boring, but totally convenient.
Buying beautiful hair accessories for your wedding and on a website is just as easy as anything: click, add to cart, wait for the delivery truck like a crazy person. :)
Since so many brick-and-mortar stores are limited on hours, you have to wear a mask, or you’re just not quite feelin’ the old shopping vibe right now, it is no wonder so many brides are choosing to buy most of their wedding favors, invitations, attire, and more online. Yes, this includes hair accessories. And wedding dresses, which we’ll be talking about later this week.
Buying Bridal Hair Accessories Online
Before you shop, we’re giving you a few pointers so you know what to look out for BEFORE you add to cart.
This post will help you make the most of your money and hopefully help you to find the bridal hair accessories online you’ve dreamed of… all from the comfort of your own home.
Let’s go!
1. Read the return policy.
Since most hair accessories you buy online have a clear no-return policy, make sure you read the fine print before you buy yours. Many handmade products, especially customized ones with personalization or custom detailing, have a no-returns or exchanges clause. Just double-check the store’s individual policy on hair accessories so you’re not out of money — and out of luck, still without the hair accessory of your dreams.
2. Add up those extra costs.
There are a few costs you already know when buying online, like shipping, handling, and tax. But there are sometimes extra costs like customs fees when buying overseas. And another cost some brides don’t consider is rush shipping when you need your hair accessory ASAP.
When you’re getting your bridal hair accessories, be sure to check the location of where it is shipping from, how long the product takes to be made (especially if handmade!) and how long it takes to ship to your home.
Want to save even more? You can sort hair accessories by location on the left-hand side on Etsy, even based on price. Shop local in your own hometown, narrow it down by country, or shop the world. You can also — and this one’s my fave — sort by “Free Shipping”. This means any product that shows up on the search ships with no added cost right to your door.
P.S. We noticed ALL the hair accessories right now at HairComesTheBride ship for free. :)
3. Read reviews.
Reviews are always a good idea to read before you buy wedding accessories — or anything, tbh — online. I swear by reviews and many times it has helped when I make a purchase. For instance, when I was buying a shirt recently, people suggested I size up. I am glad I did because otherwise, it would have fit like a cropped top instead. When buying a gift for Andrew, I always read the reviews; I want to make sure other people who purchased the same gift liked it, and if not, what they did not like about it.
Reviews are extremely helpful! Be sure to also look at customer-submitted photos, if there are any, in the reviews.
3. Try before you buy.
Now THIS is a great idea: we spotted this Try Then Buy program offered exclusively at Hair Comes The Bride (on their website here). It works exactly how it sounds: they send you three bridal accessories to borrow and try at your hair trial at NO cost and NO obligation (amazing idea)! If you love a piece, keep it and they’ll charge your credit card on file. If none of the hair pieces worked out, no problem: just send them all back at no cost. (Yes, they include a pre-paid shipping label!)
How awesome is that?! It’s things like these, you guys, that I wish was available when I got married. And it wasn’t even that long ago! ;)
