Are you looking for an alternative to bridesmaid dresses? I get it! After years of seeing the same dresses, it is fun to see jumpsuits / pantsuits taking such a powerful lead in wedding fashion. But can bridesmaids wear jumpsuits? Where do you find them? Ah, so many questions.
Can Bridesmaids Wear Jumpsuits?
Today we’re answering the latest question in our Ask Emmaline inbox from bride-to-be, Jenna. She wants bridal party jumpsuits but everyone lives out of state. What to do? She asks,
“Hi Emmaline Bride team! I want my bridesmaids to wear jumpsuits instead of dresses. Can bridesmaids wear jumpsuits? And if they can… all of my bridesmaids live far away and some are in other states. What do you recommend for where to buy bridesmaid jumpsuits online? Is there a place they can try them on in-store or that has good returns in case they don’t fit right? Thanks so much for your help with this.”
Hi Jenna! Great question! I wish I knew about bridesmaid jumpsuits when I planned my own wedding. I love bridal party dresses, but having another option or a fun alternative makes your wedding even more memorable. So, I’m here for it. :)
Great point about your bridesmaids living in other areas and not knowing how the jumpsuits will look in-person or if they’ll fit correctly. That would be awkward to wear a jumpsuit that was too short (saying this as a totally tall girl at 5’10”) or one that is too tight; another problem with bridesmaid jumpsuits we’ve seen? Too loose in the wrong places!
This can all be avoided if you shop for bridesmaid jumpsuits online at a place that also offers in-store try-on, or has a stellar return policy. They also have a ton of store locations in-person in every state, so your girls can try them on in-person, if they prefer.
Bridal Party Jumpsuits
We did some research for you on the topic of bridesmaid jumpsuits for sale in a variety of stores and price-points and the best we found for your situation is from David’s Bridal. They have an awesome return policy, too — I know because I’ve returned things to them in exchange for other sizes in the past as a bridesmaid.
This actually happened by accident, finding out they had bridal party jumpsuits at all. I know of their dresses, but I never knew they had jumpsuits and pantsuits for bridesmaids until I saw a pin on Pinterest about it.
I got pretty acquainted with their bridesmaid jumpsuits for sale and loved all of them.
I noticed a few things immediately upon conducting this very official research. :) Let’s discuss it.
Bridesmaid Jumpsuits Online
Here are 7 things I learned about where to buy bridesmaid jumpsuits and what styles are available.
1. YES, you can buy bridesmaid jumpsuits online.
As a bonus to shopping in your pajamas and sipping wine at the same time, if you buy them from here you can get FREE shipping on orders over $99 which, to be honest, includes almost every pantsuit or jumpsuit we’ve seen on their website, based on price alone.
If you’re having bridesmaids buy jumpsuits, you can always buy them all at the same time after obtaining your girls’ sizes and make one gigantic order to make sure you get the most bang for your buck. Free shipping, a discount code (if there is one), and sales — plus, you’ll have them ordered well ahead of time, and won’t have to worry about shipping times being delayed if you order early.
2. YES, you can try on bridal party jumpsuits in-store.
Just make an appointment and see if your local store has jumpsuits in stock for bridesmaids to try on. Start here.
3. Heck yes, bridesmaids CAN wear jumpsuits.
Why not? Of course! Bridesmaids can wear anything you want them to wear. Jumpsuits are a perfect alternative to traditional bridesmaid dresses.
4. Jumpsuits are wildly affordable.
When you’re looking to buy jumpsuits vs. dresses, you might be surprised at the price. It’s a lot less costly than bridesmaid dresses we’ve been seeing lately, upwards of $200 or more.
Jumpsuits, however, in a variety of colors and sizes — this style is available in size 0 to size 30 — are only $119. That’s incredible.
5. Jumpsuits in black, navy or other solid neutral colors are your best bet.
We’ve all heard the idea: pick out bridesmaid dresses they’ll be able to wear again.
Now, for a pantsuit, the same idea applies: pick a color and style that seems like it can be worn again for other occasions. Your bridesmaids will love you for it.
This one-shoulder jumpsuit? Amazing. (See it here.)
This black jumpsuit is pretty much the first time I thought to myself, oooh, I think I can seriously pull off this look.
I’m also loving this emerald green for fall weddings. I’ve never met an emerald-colored dress or blouse I didn’t love — just ask Andrew. ;) And he always tells me green is my color, so he’s either just putting me on or he’s being honest, hence why I buy ALL THE GREEN THINGS!
6. Bridesmaid jumpsuits with a train? Not my jam.
I think trains belong on the bride, but that’s my own opinion.
Perhaps you love the look. Go for it. You do you!
7. Pantsuits with an overskirt are surprisingly glamorous.
I wasn’t sure about the idea of a jumpsuit plus an overskirt. And I changed it after seeing this:
Case-in-point: this particular chiffon jumpsuit with overskirt is a cool look.
8. Jumpsuits and bridesmaid dresses CAN be worn together.
Well, not one on top of the other. Ha! You get what I mean: some bridesmaids can wear jumpsuits, while others wear dresses.
This is the new mix-and-match modern style for 2020: instead of last year’s convertible dress styles, the entire outfit can be uncoordinated yet still complement one another.
Another idea: have your Maid of Honor stand out by wearing a jumpsuit, while your bridesmaids wear dresses. This is a good alternative if you’re worried your bridal party jumpsuits won’t fit correctly or your girls will hate the idea. I’m not sure they would hate it — I love the look!
9. This stretch chiffon bridesmaid jumpsuit is my top pick for fall and winter.
After browsing the entire collection, I especially love this bridesmaid attire for fall weddings (winter, too!) in these colors: black, navy, or wine. I sort of want to wear one of these to a wedding as a guest outfit. Hmmmmm. ;)
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT IT: This jumpsuit shown here offers many sizes for bridesmaids: 0 to 26. It is priced right UNDER $120, has a short sleeve, is made of stretchy crepe material for a flattering fit, and — the kicker — it has an open back, which I love!
Here’s that open back:
I also love this halter + ruffle style! So cute!
TL;DR
In conclusion, can bridesmaids wear jumpsuits? Yes. Can you buy bridesmaid jumpsuits online? Yes. And if you get them from here, you can buy online, try on in-store, or send back for a full refund/exchange for a different size, if the one you order doesn’t fit.
It’s win-win-win-win. So much win.
