Hi, lovelies! It’s Sunday, but that doesn’t stop us from bringing you the latest Ask Emmaline question! ;) When Meghan asked us about putting out a basket of pashminas (or a shawl for wedding guest favor basket), we we happy to swoop in to help — and share the finds with you. It’s been a crazy-warm early fall season, but the evenings are now starting to get pretty chilly and, with that, your guests will love to cozy up with a shawl at your wedding (especially if it is a tented outdoor reception!) Here’s what she wrote…
Ask Emmaline: “Shawl for Wedding Guest?”
Dear Emmaline, My early November wedding is coming up fast and there are a few things I still want to cross off my list. Namely, a box of shawls for wedding guests to take as favors. We’re having a fall themed wedding and the ceremony is outdoors, with a reception indoors (but with a nice patio outside where we plan to have a fire and music played from the dance floor to wireless speakers outside). I know guests will want to be outside, too, so I wanted to offer these shawls for the female guests to stay warm. Where can I find them for cheap (but good quality)?
Great question, Meghan! These cozy, warm-you-up shawls being used as additional wedding favors are popular this time of year, especially October through February. I personally love the idea; I attended a wedding in the fall where colorful shawls were given to guests and I absolutely loved it. I have some suggestions to consider when placing a bulk shawl for wedding guest order, as well as a great place to buy them in bulk. Check it out!
Where to Buy Shawl for Wedding Guest / Favors
Here are a few things to consider when placing a box of shawls for wedding guests to take.
Buy in bulk. Do it. Make one large order and you’re done. Check! You’ll save time, money, stop worrying about having to order more, etc.

If you order all at once, fantastic. If you look on Amazon and have a Prime account (get free trial here) and you’ll also get free shipping right to your doorstep, which is even better. SO easy. There are cheap shawls here with free shipping.
If you’re going to be giving a shawl for wedding guest favors, it will be one per female. Make sure you buy enough. to have one for each female in attendance. There is no harm in buying MORE than you need and returning the (unused, non-washed) wedding shawls that are not taken. You would rather have too much than not enough.
It is easy to choose a very cheap shawl for wedding guest favors; but in the end, choosing one that is just slightly more money and delivers wayyyy more quality is always a good idea. Why?
Well, you want your shawl to actually keep guests warm (the higher quality shawls do the trick!) As a bonus, your wedding shawl will accrue double the points if guests will hold on to (and use) your shawl for upcoming formal events, too. A pashmina / shawl is an essential in every woman’s closet.
If you place a stack of wedding shawls in a box with no signage or tag, no one will take them. Why? Because everyone will wonder, are we allowed to use these? What are they for? Why are these here? Save your guests the questions with a simple tag, like this, which can be ribbon-wrapped around each shawl for wedding guests to enjoy and take home.
PLACE IN A BASKET
A stack of wedding shawls on a table just won’t do; place each wedding shawl rolled-up with a tag (see above) in a decorative basket, like this. You’ll also want to place it in an area where guests are likely to see it (i.e. near the escort card table, the cake table, or heck, the bar).
