Bridal party robes are great, but there is one big problem bridesmaids face when wearing them: most robes are too short. Sure, you can wear hosiery or leggings with a dressing robe, but it sort of defeats the point of lounging robes when you have to pair it with regular clothing. But who wants to be the only one wearing pants to avoid an “oops” situation? With so many photos being taken, it’s no surprise bridesmaids are nervous about the length, and why long bridesmaid robes are such a brilliant alternative to the typical length.
When Christina wrote to us last week, we knew it was a great topic to share: where to buy extra long robes for bridesmaids. She writes, “Dear Emmaline Bride, I want to buy long bridesmaid robes but I’m not sure where to get cute ones. Two of my bridesmaids are tall and two are plus-size so I want to make sure all the robes fit everyone perfectly. Do you have any tips on where to buy extra long robes that are cute (not frumpy?) Or even long robes for tall bridesmaids? Should I let bridesmaids pick short vs. long? Thanks so much.”
Long Robes for Bridesmaids
Hi Christina! Long bridesmaid robes are a fantastic alternative to short robes. There’s a new-ish trend of long bridesmaid robes which are a midi length, which hits near or at the calf; if you want to go even longer, ankle-length robes are known as maxi robes. There are a few long robes to choose from, especially cute ones we found in floral prints and solids. From Etsy long robes to Plum Pretty Sugar (another popular choice, especially in their pretty florals!) we found where to buy long robes for women in a longer, more covered-up length. You can order a mix of short and long, but we recommend buying EVERYONE the long length robes so you’re not setting one or a few bridesmaids apart from the others.
These robes aren’t just for tall or plus-size bridesmaids. Some bridesmaids just like the idea of being more covered up, especially in photo situations; others want to be able to move around, get ready before the wedding, and not worry about an “oops” situation. These long robes for bridesmaids are availbale in regular, petite, tall, and plus-size styles.
HELPFUL HINT: Before you buy long robes for bridesmaids, ask the shop any questions you have about sizing (or see their individual size chart for specifications).
