We have a new Ask Emmaline question today! Annie wants to know if the flower girl should stand during the wedding ceremony. She writes,
Hi Emmaline Bride. My question is does the flower girl stand during the wedding ceremony? If so, where is she supposed to stand? Thanks!
Great question, Annie! This one’s easy…
Does Flower Girl Stand During Ceremony?
This wedding question gets asked often, but it’s an easy answer: the flower girl (and ring bearer) have their special moment walking down the aisle, but they should definitely sit with their parents afterward. They will be on their best behavior if sitting with their parents, and most importantly, they’ll be happier sitting with them.

Standing for that long during the ceremony is tough as an adult; I can’t imagine as a child, especially after all the anxiety of walking down the aisle and having such an important role to play. It’s a great idea to give your flower girl (and ring bearer) a special gift to play with during the ceremony. Something handheld and silent is best (like this book or this doll).
My favorite flower girl gift right now is one of these sweet rag dolls from Miusla. I’ve honestly never seen rag dolls cuter than these:
