With wedding day balloons abound, Nick and Ella celebrated their San Francisco wedding at the historical Old Mint. Nick and Ella incorporated beautiful details and added their own symbolic elements into making their destination wedding absolutely perfect. Their photographer Jennifer Wiley from JWiley Photography captured the wedding day fun from start to finish.
Jennifer tells us, “This is such a beautiful couple, both inside and out. Nick & Ella had a small destination wedding witnessed by their closest friends & family who flew into San Francisco from as far away as Ireland! The couple is actually from Minnesota, but felt that San Fran is their home away from home and the city suits their nontraditional vibe. The vibe can best be understood as it was stated on the reception place cards “Our mission: to make today feel like all of our favorite people are giving us a hug at the same time.” Their ceremony & reception were held at the Old Mint which is an amazing old building that is in the process of being restored and was a really fantastic choice for this fun, offbeat wedding. Their wedding also incorporated eco and animal conscious elements like biodegradable balloons and exclusively vegetarian dishes at their reception.
Their ceremony was so unique. Each member of their wedding party walked up the aisle holding a balloon, and once they were all assembled Nick & Ella gathered the balloons together one by one for a big “balloon bouquet” that they released at the end of the ceremony. Nick, being a musician, also played a song on his guitar which did not leave a dry eye in the house, including their photographer. One of my favorite things that they did was to pass their rings around to each of their guests at their ceremony and asked that everyone impart happy vibes onto them for the future. Everyone present was just so full of love for the couple, and the overwhelming feeling of the day was beautiful, serene happiness. Oh, and on an artistic note, Ella, a photography lover herself asked if I’d shoot some of the day with a Holga film camera. This was such a great idea and created some really fun images too.”
