Here are a few things to know when you’re planning to rent a tent for your wedding, whether it be in Chicago, Detroit, New York, Boston, San Francisco — anywhere and everywhere.

1. Hire a professional tent rental specialist.

Tents are a big deal: to properly rent a tent for your wedding, you want to hire a team who has done it time and time again. There are several unknowns like weather, location, and placement; a professional will know where, how to do it, and what size you need for your event.

2. Figure out what kind of tent you need.

3. Don’t underestimate the size of the tent required.

Although you might save a little money, never skimp on the size of tent you really need. You wouldn’t want guests to feel like seating is too tight or there’s no room for dancing or to move around and chat with others. Make sure you include enough square footage for a solid dance floor, sit down dinner or buffet dinner, extra room for your cake table, guest book table (’cause I know you’re totally doing one of these!), etc.
