Hi, lovelies! Today we’re talking about how to plan a feather themed wedding. We’ve seen some unique wedding themes in the past (like this or THIS!) but, I must admit, a feather themed wedding is an interesting idea! I don’t know if it’s the The Great Gatsby buzz (and its fabulously feathered 1920’s inspired fashion), these pretty little things I’ve been wearing about town (I got ’em in black), or the simple fact that I’ve been seeing feather-inspired everything popping up all over the place. Whatever the reason, though, I was recently inspired by the idea of a feather themed wedding… and I really love what I found! In true Emmaline Bride fashion, these hand-picked items are all handmade wedding and we’re featuring an example from a Real Wedding with an incredible feathery feel. Read on to find out more about this fun theme and tell us… feather themed wedding: yay or nay?
Feather Themed Wedding
First, let’s begin with the ceremony decor. Instead of flowers, think feather poms and mod white paper lanterns. Here’s a pic for inspiration:
Next, let’s consider what kind of dress you’ll wear. And, when I say a feather themed wedding dress you’ll wear, I mean one you’ll actually want to wear, not a feathered gown that makes you look like a giant bird. And, the key here is to look for one that features just a soft touch of feathers. This sweet bohemian inspired feather wedding dress is by Claire LaFaye.
Now, what will you wear in your hair? I LOVE this gorgeous feather hair accessory by Fancie Strands.
You can add a feathery touch to any dress with a sash, like this one by SIBO Designs.
And, these shoe clips are incredible. By LovMely, photo by Wes Roberts.
Instead of a flower bouquet, carry a feathered one (spotted at Hairbows Wonderworld). Bonus points: it lasts forever.
And, get your bridesmaids in on the fun, too, with colorful feather bouquets to match your color palette. Feather bouquets by Kristin Danger Designs; photo by Mark Cooper Photography.
For your flower girl, find her a feather inspired dress… like this one handmade by Beane and Co.
Be sure to include subtle (yet chic) feathery accents in your ceremony, with a feathered flower girl basket and ring pillow (or dish). (Feather flower girl basket by The Love Story, ring dish by Red Raven Studios, ring pillow by Comfy Heaven).
For the groom, include feathers in his front pocket in lieu of a traditional boutonniere (photo by Nancy Neil, spotted via Offbeat Bride)…
… or go with a feathered boutonniere, like this one we love from Pomp and Plumage.
For bridesmaids, give them a gift they’ll love to wear again. One of my favorite feathered necklaces is this one spotted at your girls with one of these gorgeous necklaces by Pink Twig. I want one.
They’ll also love a pair of ethereal feather earrings (by Nomeiah)…
… or a bracelet. This one features a wrap style handmade by Pomp and Plumage.
We didn’t forget the groomsmen gifts: stay on theme with a flask featuring a feathered print (by A Fluttered Collection)…
… a feathered tie clip (by SPD Jewelry)…
… or a pair of feather themed wedding cuff links (by White Truffle Studio).
For you and your spouse, consider a thematic touch that lasts forever: feather themed wedding rings! These are by Happy Go Licky and are handcrafted from eco-friendly materials.
Next, you’ll want to think about feather themed wedding details for your reception. First, think about unexpected elements, like a guest book print in lieu of a traditional book. I love this feather guest book idea by Michelle Brusegaard, which can be framed and displayed in your home after the big day.
Include a feathered detail to your cake, whether on the tiers itself with a feather print (this one is by Hello Naomi)…
… or tie it in with the cake topper. This bird bride and groom cake topper (by Le Petit Oiseau) with a feather in the bird bride’s coif is adorable.
Include feather themed wedding details throughout your wedding stationery, like these grey, blue, white, and kraft paper invites by Crafty Pie Press. (Custom colors available, too!)
These invites are pretty, too. By Happy Chantilly.
Seat guests at specific place settings with feather place cards (by LiRa Design)…
… adorn the bride and groom’s chairs with “Mr.” and “Mrs.” feather signs (also by LiRa Design)…
… and craft DIY ostrich feather centerpieces (with instructions) to make a statement at reception tables. By Serendipity Bridal.
Don’t forget the wedding favor! For a simple favor they’re sure to love, place candy in feather-stamped favor bags, like these handmade by Clementine Weddings.
Finally, sip champagne from these feathery flutes at your reception – and beyond! By Mary Elizabeth Arts.
At your reception, be sure to leave time for a garter toss (and, this one’s so lovely, you might want an extra just for tossing.) By Gracefully Girly.
And, if you are getting married in a chilly time of year, grab one of these feather wedding wraps – just in case. (Though it’s a little bit romantic when he lets you steal his jacket.) This one is by Gilly Gray.
Finally, round out the event with a cohesive thank you card, like these spotted at Native Bear.
I hope you enjoyed this feather themed wedding post! What would you add?
Happy Planning!
♥
